BLURB

A sweet, flirty, and heartfelt romance with two roommates that spend one enthralling summer together.
After her car accident, Monica believes her dance career is over, despite the positive outlook everyone else has. Instead of trying to get back on her feet, she works on perfecting the art of couch surfing.
Famous author, Gabe Mitchell, doesn’t fare much better. On top of watching his roommate letting her life pass by, he also suffers from a major bout of writer’s block.
Hoping a change of scenery will get them both out of their rut, Gabe takes matters into his own hands and whisks Monica away to his own personal haven.
What neither one of them expects is the attraction to each other to bloom even though Monica will leave Brooksville in a matter of weeks.
Their time together is filled with skimpy bathing suits, sexy fantasy book inspirations, hot tub make-out sessions, and new job prospects.
It’s plenty to reignite their creative flames, but will it be enough to turn their one short summer into something more?

CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

   photo IMG_4269_zpsurpcuol0.png

Immediately after finishing Baking with a Rockstar, I knew I wanted Monica and Gabe's story. I love a good friends to lovers romance and these two aren't just friends, they're roommates. This was the sweetest and swooniest story and I adored it!

Monica has been staying with Gabe for a while now. After an injury left her unable to continue her career in dance, she's missing that direction for her life. Dance has always been that one thing she wanted to do and not knowing if she'll be able to do it in the future terrifies her. Gabe is trying to help her move on. He knows she has it in her to dance again and they go on a bit of a get away to motivate her.

“Monica, you will dance again. You know that, right?” His voice is strong and steady, so full of confidence that my heart skips a beat. I shrug my shoulders but don’t respond. I want to believe it. I want to believe him. But I’m afraid it’s too late.

Gabe is an author and he has it bad for Monica. This retreat they go on makes him realize it even more. The more time these two spend together isolated, the more Monica's feelings for Gabe start to develop. I loved watching these two fall for one another. Watching them fall in love was the best. Just as this is all happening, Monica finds it in herself starting to dance again. And as thrilling as it is for her, if she goes back to her dance company, it takes her away from Gabe which is a scary thought... what's a girl to do?

Gabe was seriously the best hero. He was kind, generous, and all around a great guy. I loved Monica as well. It was great to watch her find herself again after the rut she was in. I also loved getting to see some of the characters from the first book in this series. Even though this book can be read as a complete stand-alone, I would recommend checking out the first book. It will give you a bit of Monica and Gabe's back story, plus it's a great read!

If you're looking for something sexy, sweet, fun, and flirty pick this up! You'll be left with a big smile on your face. This is the perfect summer read!!

EXCERPT:
Pulling out the barstool beside her, I sit down, wanting to be on her eye level. It takes me bumping my knees into hers for her to look at me, but at least she finally does. “Hey! Remember it’s me you’re talking to. We’ve been sharing a house for most of the last year. That’s pretty much as close as anyone has ever been to me, not that I would do this for just anyone. You’re a very sweet, kind, caring, and talented person. You need to get it in your pretty head that you don’t owe me a thing. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”
My words don’t exactly trigger the response I intended as I watch the pink tinge travel up Monica’s neck and cheeks before she covers her face with her hands. “Oh gosh. Stop it already. I can't remember the last time I blushed. How embarrassing.”
Flabbergasted.
I’m absolutely stunned she’s reacting this way.
It’s also interesting she can still surprise me after we’ve known each other all this time.

Never Have I Ever is LIVE on audible!

Never Have I Ever by Lauren Blakely

What happens when two frenemies can't stop pushing each other's buttons?

Never Have I Ever been so infuriated by a man I wanted to kiss.

They say opposites attract, but I beg to differ. Combust is more like it. Because every single time I talk to Zach Nolan, I see red.

The too-good-looking, too-smart, too-effortlessly-charming single dad who works down the hall from me has turned getting under my skin into a sport. Call it the battle of wits between the wedding planner and the divorce attorney.

Trouble is, when we’re forced into closer quarters, planning an engagement party for our best friends, I start to see his other sides.

And I fear I’m falling for the enemy.

***

I’m not out to make friends. My goals are simple - fight till the end for my clients, and my family.

The last thing I need is a vibrant, outgoing, snarky, and surprisingly big-hearted wedding planner to spend my precious free time with...except, watching Piper bond with my daughter just might break down the cinder block walls I’ve built around my heart these last few years.

Second chances don’t come around for guys like me...or do they?

Frienemies to lovers, single dad, and fantastic narration. This audio book hit the spot!

Piper and Zach hung out with the same crowd in college, but they never quite got along. Piper is a wedding planner and Zach is a divorce attorney who is happily married. Years later, they're still in the same crowd and work in the same building.

Zach is a widower with 2 amazing children and Piper is still single. These two are oil and water together, and it seems like they would make the most impossible pairing, but the more time they spend together, the more they realize they just fit. Piper fits into Zach's life and adores his kids. Their enemies turns to friends, and that turns into so much more.

I loved the build up and banter between Piper and Zach. They were great together. Piper is one of those heroines you can't help but love and Zach is truly incredible as a single dad and all around good guy. Their relationship changed so organically and without any unnecessary drama.

I read this book in audio format and it was a joy to listen to. Jason Clarke is quickly becoming one of my favorite male narrators. He voiced Zach so effortlessly. Amanda Ronconi did a fantastic job with Piper's voice. It was a top notch audio performance.

I haven't read a ton by Lauren Blakely, but I love her writing style. It's fun, flirty, sweet, and entertaining. This book was easy to listen to and I enjoyed it lots! If you're looking for a great enemies to lovers that's got just the right amount of feels, pick this one up.

Piece of My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn is LIVE!

From the author of Unbreak My Heart comes a heart-wrenching story about a young married couple's struggle to find their way back to each other after an unbearable loss threatens to tear them apart. Nicole Jacquelyn delivers a novel that will break your heart...in all the best ways.

Alex Evans is cool. Collected. Charismatic as hell. But when he meets Sarai Levy, all that chill goes right out the door. An Israeli graduate student, Sarai's far too busy with school to date. But she gives Alex a chance anyway, and after a few whirlwind months, they're getting married. They've heard all the reasons why it's too soon, but Alex and Sarai are madly in love and determined to make it work . . . until a devastating tragedy strikes and their perfect world comes crashing down.

Sarai, who always has a plan, suddenly has no blueprint for handling a staggering loss. As she pulls away from Alex and withdraws from her life, he's struggling to be the man she needs. Their relationship is fraying at the seams, and if Alex and Sarai don't find a way to trust each other with their most painful truths, their heartache could shatter their fairytale romance.

Piece of My Heart is the forth book in Nicole Jacquelyn’s ‘Fostering Love’ series. To be honest, this was my most anticipated one of the series. Alex is one of those supporting characters that you fall in love with and I couldn’t wait for his book. I was so happy when this one landed on my kindle and Alex didn’t disappoint. I adored him just as much as I knew I would.

Alex Evan’s is in the Army. He’s an amazing brother, son, and friend, but the last thing he wants to do is to help an army buddy out by going on a blind date. But he goes. The girl he happens to be set up with is named Sarai and he falls head over heels for her. It’s love at first sight for him, but she needs a little more time. Sarai is a busy lady and she’s focused on work and school. She doesn’t have time for a relationship, but Alex wears her down. Once Sarai gives in, these two fall hard and they fall fast for one another.

Alex is the best of the best. Seriously, there could not be a more perfect hero. He’s genuine, a great brother and friend, a kind and sweet man, and a romantic boyfriend. I couldn’t have loved him more. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Sarai, but I really liked her too. These two were a great match and though their romance moved quickly, it was believable. I mean, who would let a guy like Alex go?

This book was a lot lighter on the angst compared to some of the others, but it was still uber emotional and heartbreaking. My heart shattered for this couple. There is a lot of struggle toward the end, and I wish that there would have been more of a focus on the healing. The last 10% of the book felt a bit rushed to me, but aside from that, I loved it.

Family is such a strong point when it comes to these books. The support this family gives is huge. The problems this couple faces seem insurmountable at times, but love can truly conquer all. This series has been so great for me, and this was a nice addition. If you’re looking for an emotional read that’s full of heart and has a flawless hero, pick this one up.

Review: Lies by Kylie Scott

Betty Dawsey knows that breaking things off with Thom Lange is for the best. He’s nice, but boring, and their relationship has lost its spark. But steady and predictable Thom, suddenly doesn’t seem so steady and predictable when their condo explodes and she’s kidnapped by a couple of crazies claiming that Thom isn’t who he says he is.

Thom is having a hellish week. Not only is he hunting a double agent, but his fiancé dumped him, and thanks to his undercover life, she’s been kidnapped.

Turns out Thom is Operative Thom and he’s got more than a few secrets to share with Betty if he’s going to keep her alive. With both their lives on the line, their lackluster connection is suddenly replaced by an intense one. But in his line of work, feelings aren’t wanted or desired. Because feelings can be a lethal distraction.

Christy's Review:
   photo 8A1F1879-FEDF-408E-A6EF-327D2FEAD808_zpsldbpbfmy.png

The entire time I was reading Lies, all I could think of was that this would make a killer movie. It's been a while since I've read a book and could see it being the perfect film. This would be an action film, heavy on the romance and humor. I really enjoyed Betty and Thom's story and it entertained me all the way through.

Betty is getting ready to leave her fiance, Thom. It's for the best. The spark is missing and they're just not on the same page. She sees Thom as nice, predictable, and as average as can be. Oh is Betty in for a surprise... Thom is an operative and his cover has been blown. Betty now sees him for what he really is. A liar.

“Our whole relationship was like a mission to you. You assessed my life, inserted yourself into it, and then only worked within the parameters you were comfortable with.”

There are more important things then feelings right now, as there is a double agent in Thom's group and they're being picked off one by one. Finding the culprit and protecting Betty is his number one priority. Betty may think Thom doesn't care, but it couldn't be farther from the truth. Thom was only giving Betty what he thought she wanted. A quiet, simple, and average life.

I loved watching Betty get to know the real Thom because he was fantastic. I loved the two of them together and I especially loved that she made him work for it. This isn't the most realistic romance, but it was a heck of a good time. I couldn't take my eyes off the pages, I devoured every word.

If you're in the mood for an action packed romance, this is the book for you. Kylie Scott writes in a completely captivating way and this book is steamy, funny, and highly entertaining.

“Is there anything you didn’t lie to me about?” The mirth disappears from his face. “I wasn’t lying when I said I love you.”

Review: Making Up by Helena Hunting

"I LOVED both Cosy and Griffin! This story was ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!"- Kendall Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

Making Up an all-new laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is available now!

Making Up_ebook

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

MAKING UP TEASER NINE AN.jpg

Excerpt:

We’re a couple of minutes away from my apartment, which also means we’re almost at the end of our date. End-of-date protocol often means a goodnight kiss.

And I’ve eaten onions. Lots of them. What the hell was I thinking? I feel around in my shorts pocket, hoping I have a random stick of gum. I find a tiny square packet and pull it out, along with an old tissue. I shove that back in my pocket and sigh with relief as I carefully open the Listerine Pocketpak. There’s one strip left. I pop it in my mouth, wishing I had water since my mouth is dry and I’m suddenly super nervous.

Griffin pulls up in front of my apartment building. I swallow a bunch of times, trying to get the strip to dissolve on my tongue and glance out the tinted window, seeing it from his perspective. I don’t live in a bad part of town, but I sure as hell wouldn’t leave this car sitting out here for any length of time unless I wanted it keyed or stripped down.

Griffin shifts into park and turns to me, one hand resting on the back of my seat near the headrest. “I had a great time, Cosy.”

“Me too, thanks for dinner.” I tried to fork over my share, but he was quick on the credit card draw.

“It was my pleasure.” He leans in the tiniest bit, a nonverbal cue that he’s going in for a kiss.

I mirror the movement, giving him the go ahead. My stomach flutters in anticipation. I exhale slowly through my nose. Even though the Listerine strip should be doing its job to mask the onions, I don’t want to ruin the moment by breathing that in his face.

His fingertips skim my jaw, and I close my eyes. And then his lips brush my cheek. I wait for them to move a couple of inches to the right, but after what feels like a lot of seconds—and is probably only a few—I crack a lid.

Griffin is still close, a wry smile on his lips and a smolder in his eyes.

“Seriously, that’s it? A kiss on the cheek?”

His smile widens, making his eyes crinkle at the corners. He’s nothing like the guys I usually end up on dates with. College boys don’t take things slow. If I were out with one of the guys from school, I’d be sitting in a beat-up Civic with some stupid music playing, and he’d be all over me with his tongue halfway down my throat, copping a feel.

“I thought all the onions you ate were the equivalent to garlic for vampires.” Griffin fingers my hair near my shoulder. I’d really like him to finger something else. Wait. I mean I’d like to feel his hands on me. Not in my pants. Okay, maybe I’d like them in my pants, but not after date number one.

“I wasn’t thinking, and I really like onions. A lot. In hindsight, it’s not a great date food. I feel kinda dumb. And I guess at first I wasn’t so sure about you. How was I supposed to know you’d actually be kind of normalish?”

“Normalish?”

“Well, you drink club soda on purpose, so you can’t be all there.” I tap his temple.

Griffin circles my wrist with his fingers and drops his head, lips brushing over my knuckle. “We can’t all be perfect, now, can we?”

“I suppose not, and perfect is boring.”

“That it is.” He hums against my skin, and I feel it through my entire body. “I would like to try that kiss again, if you’re still interested.”

CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

   photo IMG_4208_zpscitqe8qp.png

Making Up is the fourth book in Helena Hunting’s Shacking Up series. I’ve loved reading about this group of characters and Cosy and Griffin were no exception. Though this was my least favorite of the series, I still loved the writing and characters, I just had a bit of an issue with some of the drama in the book.

Cosy and Griffin have an interesting meeting… I loved the unusual way they met. Griffin is intrigued by Cosy and wants to go out with her, but she’s hesitant. There is a bit of an age gap (Cosy is early 20’s and Griffin is early 30’s) and it makes her resistant at first. But these two have so much chemistry, it’s hard to deny their attraction.

I loved these two together. Their pull to each other was magnetic and they balanced each other perfectly. I loved watching them fall in love. They were the sweetest couple.

“This is perfect.”
“You’re perfect.”
I snort. “Oh my God. You need to drop all the lines today. The surprise and the latte are enough.”
“It’s not a line, Cosy. If I had a checklist with boxes to tick off, you would be the person who appeared at the end of the quiz as my perfect match.”

I understand every book has to have some drama and angst, but this book had a little too much for my taste. It’s like, as soon as one obstacle would be faced, something else would pop up. And one of the things I really don’t love reading about. It had nothing to do with the main characters actions just the directions the story took. Thankfully, by the end, I was a happy reader again. I’m very much looking forward to reading Lincoln’s book which will be next in the series!

Helena Hunting never fails to make me laugh, smile, and swoon. Making Up was an entertaining and easy to read book from a series I love.

Ava Diaz needs saving.

She just doesn’t know it yet.

Just like she doesn’t know a thing about the boy she sits next to on the first day of senior year.

He thinks she’s a brat.

She thinks he’s entitled.

Maybe first impressions don’t always last…

Because Connor Ledger’s about to save her.

He just doesn’t know why.

“You’ll always be my first love, Ava. Everything else is insignificant.”

After reading Heartache & Hope I was super anxious to read this book. I mean, I loved the first book so much. What are the odds that this one would be just as good? I don’t know, but I shouldn’t have been surprised that this book was just as good as the first. It was seriously the perfect conclusion of Ava and Connor’s story. Perfection. Jay McLean blew me away once again with her magical words and epic storytelling.

The first book in this series left us in a bit of a rocky place. Ava and Connor both love each other but sometime there are other obstacles. Sometimes family comes first and sometimes things aren’t easy. But love always conquers all. Jay will make you believe in love. Love isn’t always easy, but it’s always always worth it.

This book is the perfect combination of fun, angst, humor, emotion, and romance. It left me breathless. It was truly a stunning conclusion. I was captivated from the first page until the last. This is the very best duet I’ve ever read and both of these books will be on my favorites list for 2019.

This is a magical story of first love and forever love. It’s a book that will make you feel, make you laugh, make you cry, and leave you with the biggest smile on your face. It is a must read and I 100% recommend this to all!!
