Synopsis
Detective Mike Sterling walked away from his dream job telling himself it was to honor the promise he’d made his mother, while lying in a Chicago emergency room. A year later, he’s still fighting the demons that followed him back to his boyhood town.
Taryn Watts is an award-winning designer, going from project to project, living from a suitcase. Her plan for Renlend Kansas was the same as always. Go in, get the job done and get out, just the way she likes it. Growing up as a cop’s daughter, her every move was controlled. When she escaped to college she vowed to never fall in love with a cop –ever. Until she found herself sitting across from the ruggedly handsome stranger. Looking into Mike’s ice blue eyes they pulled her, called to her, but there was a haunting in them she knew too well.
Mike is drawn to Taryn, her passion for her work and her stunning beauty left him breathless, but what surprises him most is the peace he feels when he’s near her. Maybe it’s because Taryn is a temporary addition to his town and his secret is safe, or maybe it’s because she makes him feel safe. Mike knows he can’t keep up this charade and when Taryn moves to Renlend for an extended stay he can’t hide the truth any longer.
Can Taryn forget he’s a cop and give him her heart, or will his demons drive them apart?

Review:
I adored this book. Mike's Way Back is beautifully written with strong characters fighting to overcome something deep from their past.

We meet Mike as he's going to the local bar to grab some food. Once he's there a gorgeous woman comes and sits close to his table and he can't take his eyes off of her.

Taryn is in town to renovate a building and doesn't have time for men in her life, so she is engrossed in her work until she feels eyes watching her work. She meets Mike's eyes and winks. Then she freaks because she doesn't flirt with guys.

Kelly, the waitress introduces the 2 because Taryn needs to use the restroom and asked Mike to watch her stuff. Once Kelly tells her not to worry about her stuff because Mike was a cop, Mike could see the disappointment in her eyes.

Taryn grew up in a cop family, dad and 2 brothers who were overly protective of her. But Mike asks her to come with him and he would show her the town so she could get inspiration. There is an immediate connection, but Taryn is leaving in a few weeks so they start out as friends.

The characters in this book are wonderful. You get some POV changes theoughout the story. Taryn, Mike, the bookstore owner, and a few more. The author is building up to write spinoff stories on these characters.

If your looking for a sweet love story this is the one for you. And look at that cover, hello Mr. Sexy!! I give 4 stars for Mike's Way Back and look forward for more from this author!

About the Author
When asked ‘when do you have time to write’, Amy Gregory simply laughs. The real answer is, “in bits and pieces”. She and her husband live in Kansas City with their three fantastic kids that keep them running in three very different directions. Because she sits so much, she always carries a notebook with her at all times.
She has an off the wall, snarky, off the cuff sense of humor that often shocks even those who’ve known her for years. And she loves that her children have all been blessed that ability to make others laugh as well. At least she’s grateful most of the time! Her husband often teases her about how she “makes this stuff up” when he’s reading a piece of her work. … The answer—“it just comes to me when I’m typing”. Scary thought, huh!

Sex Love Repeat by Alessandra Torre Review

Sex Love RepeatSex Love Repeat by Alessandra Torre
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Sex, Love, Repeat Stars!

I love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all they need to know, that is all I let them know. They don’t need to know a name; they don’t need to know anything, but that they are not alone in my heart.

This book went beyond my expectations. I am blown away, I thought I knew what was going to happen, but nope my mind was fully blown with the direction of the story. There is nothing, NOTHING like this in the book market today.

So we meet Madison and find out quickly that she has a sex drive of a, well what could you compare it too? She is beyond insatiable, that's all I can say. She has Stewart, but he puts work first and she is fine with that, but she lets him know, I am going to be going elsewhere to be satisfied. So he compromises with her and suggests she gets a boyfriend to take care of her when he can't. He has only one condition, he must know about him and that she is "his" also.

“She fucks because she loves it and loves through it. It is her gift to the world, and I am lucky enough to be a part of that world.”

Next we meet Paul.

“Paul loves me with unconditional warmth, his affection public and obvious, his arms pulling me into him, his mouth littering my body with frequent kisses.”

Paul knows about the other man in her life, and he has a hard time at first, but realizes he can't be without Madison. And I must say, he is one hell of a man to be able to be in that situation and not become a jealous caveman. The one thing Madison insists on is that both men know about each other, but no information about the other is given. She doesn't want the 2 men to ever collide in her life, because she can't choose between the two men.

So what happens when she is in an accident and that very thing happens? And this is where my mind gets blown to smithereens!! I can't exactly speak about it, because then it won't blow your mind when you read it. So take my word, its a doozy!!!

Sex. Love. Repeat. is a well written piece of literary genius. I was kept on my toes guessing what I thought would happen to only be completely wrong. You want sex? You want angst? You want romance? Well this book is for you!

Review of Wrecked by Priscilla West

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

Review:

My favorite type of Book Boyfriend are the fighters! I don't know what it is about men that fight, but it's a turn on for me. So when I saw that Wrecked was available on Netgalley I jumped on it!

We are introduced to Lorrie as she is reflecting on her messed up life while looking upon the frozen over lake. She gets startled and accidentally falls into the lake. Her puffy coat pulls her under and she can't push up from the ice. She finally breaks the surface only to find out how far she went out. Panicking she starts flailing around only to realize somebody had jumped in to save her and was causing him to go under as well. Once they get out of the lake, she gets a good look and she is freaked out because the man is gorgeous.

He takes her back to his apartment to get her warmed up.  And this is where Lorrie  sneaks out wearing his clothes because she is afraid of how attracted she is to him. They didn't even exchange names, so she had no clue who he was. She runs into him a couple days later and finds out he is an MMA fighter.

Hunter is infatuated with Lorrie, but she is afraid of what would happen if he ever broke her heart so she says they must remain friends, nothing more. Hunter agrees only because she is so different. The more she gets to know Hunter, the more she falls for him. Finally after what felt like forever they become a couple! And this is where the story kind of lagged for me, it just seemed like too much sex and not enough relationship growth. I kept reading and I'm glad I didn't give up because the rest of the story totally made up it!

And the box of kittens was enough to melt my heart! The bond they share with each other over the kittens is truly magical, and is a major part of the book. Can these 2 people who have major past issues be able to have a good relationship or is the past going to sneak in and wreck them apart?

Priscilla rocked this story and I can't wait for book 2, like I need it right now. Seriously.

Overall I give Wrecked 4.5 Stars

Sex Piston by Jamie Begley Spotlight

Sex Piston (Biker Bitches, #1) – Released – November 23, 2014
 Available to purchase at:
Kobo:

Book Blurb:
Sex Piston wasn’t about to apologize to anyone for her bitch attitude and certainly not the President of The Blue Horsemen, Stud. If he thinks he’s going to be able to control her and her crew then he has another thing coming. A lapse in judgment has him thinking that he’s won this battle of the sexes but a one-night stand isn’t about to bring this woman to heel.

Stud has to prove himself as the new President of the Destructors, and Sex Piston and her crew’s attitude isn’t helping. If he has to sacrifice his body to tame the bitch then that’s exactly what he’s going to do even if it means losing his heart in the battle.

Excerpt:
“Why don’t I get a beer?” Sex Piston asked, taking a bite of her burger.
“Because when I fuck you this time you’re going to be sober,” he said, looking her in the eyes.
Sex Piston almost choked on her food. Finally managing to swallow the bite of food, she took a drink of water while giving him a glare at the amusement he made no effort to hide.
“Very funny,” she snapped.
“I wasn’t joking,” he said before taking another bite of his burger.
“It’s not going to happen, Stud.”
“Why not?”
She opened her mouth to answer him, but he raised his hand before she could say something hateful. “And don’t lie and say you don’t want to because I know you do.”
“Dude, if your dick was as big as your ego, I’d fuck you. But since it’s not, I think I’ll pass.” Sex Piston smirked at her answer.
Stud lips twitched. “My dick is big enough to satisfy you.”

Author Bio:

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work and education.

Taking after my mother, I’ve always loved to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent at work and I write during the nights and weekends. I have two children who both graduate next year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently, I am writing three series of books- The Last Riders that is fairly popular, The Dark Souls series, which is not, and The VIP Room, which we will soon see. My favorite book I have written is Soul Of A Woman, which I am hoping to release during the summer of 2014. It took me two years to write, during which I lost my mother and brother. It’s a book that I truly feel captures the true depths of love a woman can hold for a man. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am an emotional writer who wants the readers to feel the emotion of the characters they are reading. Because of this, Teased is probably the hardest thing I have written.

All my books are written for one purpose - the enjoyment others find in them and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best. In the near future I hope to take a weekend break and visit Vegas (hopefully be next summer). Right now, I am typing away on the next story and enjoying the holidays. Did I mention I love the holidays?

CJ has lived all over the state of California, Central, South, North and finally landing back somewhere in the middle. She married the boy she fell for when she was only eleven years old and together they have two beautiful heathens. CJ obviously loves to read and write. She can watch the Giant’s play baseball but hates football. She bakes when she’s sad, runs when she’s mad and dances when she’s happy (even if she cant find a rhythm to save her life) If you’re looking for her and can’t seem to find her, look on the staircase, it’s her favorite spot to read.

Excerpt:
Ava sits up and straddles her legs on either side of my waist and takes a deep breath. “I hated everything about tonight.”
“About my fight?” I ask because I’m not sure I’m following her. Is she upset about Ashton or my reaction to them being together at the fight? She nods her head without looking at me so I sit up and wrap my arms around her. “I’m fine, babe. I’m really good at what I do, the chances of me getting really hurt are slim.”
She pops her head up quickly and narrows her eyes at me. “There is nothing funny about this, Declan! You scared the shit out of me!!” she exclaims just before punching me in the arm.
“Ow! What was that for?” I rub out the little sting on my bicep while mostly holding back a laugh, but I can’t hide my smile.
She quiets down but her eyes are terrified. “He kicked you in the head,” she whispers so softly I can hardly hear her. I have to laugh; I can’t help it.
“He kicked me in my head?” Did this surprise her?
“YES! Do you not remember that?” Her response is pure fear and I hate that I put that look on her face and that feeling in her heart.
“Yeah, I remember, Sunshine.” I smooth her hair away from her face and kiss her soundly. “I should have explained things to you, on how the fights work, what to expect. I would have if I knew you were going to show up, but I honestly thought that you were dead set against ever coming to one.”
Ava sighs. “I was, but then I felt like I wasn’t supporting you by not being there for you and I didn’t want you thinking that.”
I guide her backwards so she’s lying down with her head at the foot of the bed. I lean forward and slip my hands up her smooth thighs, placing small, lingering kisses along the way. My hands reach her hips and I’m reminded that she’s only wearing a nightie. “Hmmm, I love you so much. You are the sexiest woman I have ever known, Sunshine.” My hot breath whispers across her hip bones and over the skin just above her panty line (if she were wearing any). “I love the way you care about things other people don’t even take the time to think about.” My tongue draws a line up her abdomen, following her rising nightie. Her breathing has changed; it’s harsher and more rapid and I can’t get enough of it. My tongue swirls around her navel. “You make me so happy,” I kiss along her rib cage, “no matter what,” my tongue runs underneath her breast, “you don’t ever have to see another fight,” I kiss between her cleavage and slip her nightie off as I drag the tip of my nose to her ear, “just please don’t be upset over what I do. Don’t worry. Please? I need you, Ava, I need you like the air I breathe.” My tongue slides on the outer rim of her ear and I place a delicate kiss to her temple. I’m on top of her in a second, my elbows on either side of her head. My mouth connects with hers and although she has tears streaming down her face, there is no hesitation in her kiss.
Ava makes me feel like the word “love” was established just for us. Her and I. Me and her. I know that I would do anything for her, even become a damn accountant if that’s what she wished for on a bright, shining star. I would. It would be the toughest thing to possibly imagine but it wouldn’t be impossible. Surviving the loss of my relationship with her? That would be impossible.
