Sweet home by Tillie Cole 5 star review

Sweet Home (Sweet Home, #1)Sweet Home by Tillie Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*review to come*
5++++++ Stars!

This is another one of those books that 5 stars just isn't enough. I abso-fucking-lutely LOVED this book!!

I won 3 ebooks of my choice and decided I would just browse amazon and see if anything caught my eye. Sweet Home popped up on my recommendations based on what I had purchased before and I read the synopsis and it sounded really good so that was my first choice.

As soon as I started reading I knew that I was gonna love it. I encountered this on page 9 from Mollys roommate Casey.

"I'm telling you Molls, I'm not usually a pussy taster, but I could make an exception for you in that getup! Shit you got some delicious curves, girl!"

And this one had me cracking up.

"What's up, bitches? Are we heading' to this jig or what? I wanna see what prime beef is on offer. Mamma's taco needs a good ol' fillin'. And she slapped her crotch to exaggerate her point

I was hooked from that point on. As soon as I was introduced to Rome AKA Bullet, I was in book boyfriend love. Sigh…he made me swoon so many times!

"My body recognizes you as something that's good for me. My mind recognizes you as someone who's right for me, and my soul recognizes you as someone who is meant for me."

Did your panties melt reading that? Mine sure did!

I loved everything about this story from beginning to end, and its one of those books that you will want to read over and over again! It has the "Beautiful Disaster" feel to it, and I've read that 3 times.

I highly recommend this story!

Indie Author Spotlight Tour with Jade C. Jamison

Jade sent me some teasers and let me tell you, I can't decide which ones to post! So I will post them throughout the day. I'll post my favorite one with this post along with an excerpt.

Excerpt from Backstage Passion:  Bullet
Jade C. Jamison

After struggling with a few lines for the better part of half an hour, I heard a soft knock at my door.  I’d been getting drowsy, so I wasn’t sure if I’d really heard it, but I got up anyway.  I wasn’t exactly decent in my tiny, strappy gown, so I figured I’d just peek out the door to see what whoever it was wanted.  I’d heard the guys laughing at whatever movie they were watching, so maybe they just wanted to ensure that I really didn’t want to join them.

When I stuck my head out the door, I saw Ethan.  Oh, goodness, he looked extra cute in the shadow of our tiny hallway.  His hair was growing out, adding to his ever-mysterious look, and over the past few weeks, he’d been working on a goatee.  I didn’t exactly mind seeing him there, but I wasn’t decent.  I was in one of those positions I knew my dad had worried about.  But that was okay.  It was just my head out the door.  “What’s up?”

“Everything okay?”

“Yeah.  Why wouldn’t it be?”

He was quiet for a moment.  “Can I come in for a second?”

I hesitated.  “Um…sure.”

I think I took his breath away.  He must have been expecting to see me in the robe.  When he walked in, he took me in for longer than he should and closed the door behind him.  But then he said, “Seriously, Val.  Sorry you had to hear that shit in the other room.”

I smiled.  “Not a big deal.”

He got close and wrapped his hands around my waist.  “Only one girl I’m thinking about right now.”  Oh…I hoped that was true.  He brought his lips to mine in a soft, sweet kiss, but that only lasted for a few seconds.  We turned passionate quickly, and before I knew it, my back was pressed against the wall.  My hands that had been spread against his chest soon slithered up to his neck, and I slid my hands into his hair.  His hands moved to cup my ass, and his touch sent a shiver through all my nerve endings.  I was beginning to feel sensations that I’d rarely felt, but I was enjoying them.

He lifted me up, and in a natural motion, I wrapped my legs around his so he was pressing right into me.  Oh…his penis was hard and pressing into that one area…the one that I’d had to ignore and deny my entire life.  I had put it into a figurative box, locked away, trapped, and the only time I’d had contact with it was in the shower when I cleaned it.  I’d only ever touched myself in the most clinical of ways, blushing when I’d do a breast exam and thinking about upcoming science tests or the cold weather when I’d wash my vaginal area.  But now it was awakened.  I’d felt the first tinglings before when I’d gotten overly friendly with Brad, but this was an intense sensation.  He was pressing into me, and it made me feel desperate, urgent.  I didn’t notice at first that my breathing had changed.

Ethan broke off our kiss and looked me in the eyes.  He looked like an animal, fierce and needy, and I wanted him.  Just seeing him like that made every single fiber in my body stand at attention, and I wondered if I looked like he did.  I thought I saw an inkling of a smile in his eyes.  “You like that?”

I knew what he was talking about, but the words were gone.  I was breathless.

He ground himself into me, and I gasped.  Oh, yes.  Oh, hell, yes.  I liked it.  But I still couldn’t say anything.  He knew, though, by the sharp intake of air into my lungs that I more than liked it, and he buried me in a kiss again.

I knew then what my body was made for, and now I knew why my mother and father had tried so desperately to hide it from me.  Sweet heavens above, I wanted nothing else now, and as that boy’s manhood continued to awaken my hidden desires, I knew my virginity was soon to be forgotten.

Ethan broke off the kiss again to look at me.  “God, I want you.”

My voice sounded foreign to my own ears—throaty, hoarse.  “I want you too.”

I saw it register with him, and I guess I was lucky he didn’t take me right then and there.  But he restrained himself.  “Not now.  Your first time…can’t be a quick fuck up against a wall.”  His eyes looked tender when he said, “Soon.  When the time is right.”

Now I felt desperate, but I hoped I didn’t sound brazen.  “When will be the right time?”

His eyes searched mine.  “Soon.  I promise.  I’ll take care of it.”  He kissed me again and then held me close, my legs still around him.  He nuzzled my neck, and that didn’t help.  Then he looked at me again.  “I should go.”

And then I wanted to ask him why he had to leave…why we couldn’t just make love right then and there.  But I knew…I knew I didn’t want to lose my virginity when there were three other guys in the next room in an apartment with paper-thin walls.  I was going to have to trust Ethan.  He had a plan—I could see that in his eyes.  He lowered me back down to the floor and held me close, willing his hard on to go down, but he kissed me once more.  Then he touched his nose to mine.  “Soon.  But get your rest.”

Yeah.  Like I could sleep now.

"There are people who come into your life who deserve to be loved. They are the ones worth taking a chance on, hoping you don't end up broken."

Emma and Jesse grew up in two different worlds. Emma lives with her ex-model mother who expects her to be perfect. Dress perfect. Have the perfect friends and boyfriend. She is a shallow woman who looks down on anyone without money. Thankfully, Emma is nothing like that. She’s more like her father who is a famous traveling musician.  Jesse lives with his mother across town in a single wide trailer. His mother is a single mom who works hard to provide for them. She is loving, kind and just wants the best for her son. She is thrilled when Jesse gets a scholarship to the local private school.

Jesse’s not sure if he will fit in with all the kids there. He’s different from them. He stands out with his cheaper clothes, longer hair and his tattoos. Even with all that, there is no denying how attractive he is. Emma and her best friend, Lucy (along with most of the other female students) notice him the first day of school. Jesse has no intention of getting involved with any of the rich barbies at his new school. He’s there to get good grades that will lead to a college scholarship and make his mom proud. But Emma changes everything.

Emma shows Jesse kindness from the first moment she meets him. He wonders what her deal is, if she has some sort of motive, but she doesn’t. It’s just her way, the type of person she is. She wants to be his friend. Truly, she could care less how much money he has, where he lives, none of it matters to her. Thats her mom’s deal, not hers. Jesse and Emma become friends, but that attraction is lingering in the background. They both want it to be more, but Emma’s mother would never let that happen. As their relationship develops, they find it hard to hide it from Emma’s mother and friends. But still, Emma wants to be with Jesse, and he wants to be with her.

It was so refreshing to have a book where I genuinely liked both main characters! Emma was a breath of fresh air. She is sincere, honest and kind. Jesse was a sweet guy. He is so used to being misunderstood due to his economic status and his appearance, it took him a while to get that Emma really did like him for him and didn’t care about all that other stuff. I loved the two of them together.

A great mix of sweet, sexy, heartwarming and heart breaking. A bit of forbidden romance, the rich girl with the poor guy told in dual pov. I loved getting the perspective of both Jesse and Emma. First loves can be intense, and these two have quite the story. The ending did stop at a bit of a cliffhanger, but I think it’s going to set up perfectly for the second book, which I’m looking forward to reading!

Synopsis
With a former supermodel mother and a rock-and-roll legend father, Emma Preston has the best of everything. Nothing is as perfect as it seems though. After her parents divorce, she’s forced to live with her mother in a private Santa Monica community. Ignoring their parental roles, her mother becomes more focused on climbing the social ladder while her father is off on tour.

Growing up in a trailer park with his mother, Jesse is used to people looking down on him. When his mother begs him to submit an application for a scholarship to one of Santa Monica’s top private schools, he never expects to actually get it. When he does, he is forced to attend school with a bunch of rich kids. He ignores their stares as they judge him for having tattoos and a less than impressive car. As long as he has his surfboard and the guys at the tattoo shop, he knows he can make it through.

When Jesse shows up on the first day of school, Emma can’t help but be intrigued. Her mother would never approve of Emma talking to someone so poor, but she doesn’t care because something about Jesse draws her to him.

Jesse tries to hate Emma, but he discovers that he can’t resist her. Forced to hide their relationship from Emma’s mother and everyone else around them, things start to fall apart. When Jesse’s friend, Ally, decides to interfere, things go from bad to worse.

Can they survive their first love? Or will they be left with nothing more than shattered ties?

Book 1 of a 2 book series.

Excerpt
“So, what’s your story?” I asked, unable to stop myself. He looked confused. “What do you mean?” “I was just wondering where you were from.” I gestured to his tattoos. “You don’t fit the mold for most of the guys around here. Did you just move here or something?” He hesitated for a split second before I saw determination fill his eyes. “Nope. I attended the public school across town all my life. I’m here on a scholarship. As for my tattoos, I like to be creative, and sometimes, I use my body to do it.”I felt my cheeks turn red from embarrassment. I was sure he could get very creative with that body of his.

Indie Author Highlight Tour stop with Author S.L. Scott

I grab her exploring finger just as it reaches my happy trail—a trail that if I let her wander down further will lead us to do things we can’t take back. Things like three-word phrases being confessed that would end me if I was rejected. Things like selfishly wanting to own her body and doing things to her that would make my fantasies blush. And things like making her promises too soon that won’t do either of us any good. She makes me want a future that’s not possible, and one I don’t deserve.

Listening to my ego got me into this situation. Will listening to my heart get me out?

Two words sum up my summer in paradise—Evan Ashford.

I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more... needing to know he feels this too.

Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.

Like a riptide, I was forever changed by one woman—Mallory Wray.
Our eyes meet and we spend a moment looking into the others’, reading the fear and the love that mingles within. I move slowly down and kiss her forehead, her nose, her eyelids, her cheeks, and her chin before I kiss her lips again—soft and gentle, not rushed, but sensual. She smiles and I die inside knowing that I won’t get to see her face every day. I’ve been spoiled by this sweet angel giving me all her days and nights. I possessively take hold of her wrists and like so many times before, the air stills as our connection intensifies. I can’t help myself when it comes to her.

I kiss her.

Rain pours down harder and I wrap my arms around her, engulfing her body, her love, her soul.

Good Sensations book 3 in the Welcome to Paradise series:
Release Date is January 14th, 2014

I don’t know what I expected. Maybe I thought this would make sense to her as it would to anyone else in the world… anyone with a heart. But I forgot, Evan’s mother doesn’t have a heart.
“Oh,” she says, her tone remains emotionless. “I didn’t know it was your birthday. I would normally send my best wishes, but alas, this is not a social call, so we won’t waste time with petty occurrences in your life.”
I remain silent, forgetting that I have the ability to hang up as she continues her verbal assault.
“I’m going to be frank with you, Mallory. I want my son in New York permanently. He can finish his degree here and continue in the family business. Three generations have worked hard to make Ashford Holdings the success it is, and Evan will one day lead it to greater success.” She sighs as if she’s bored. But her words are stern, and I can tell she means every one of them. “With that success, Evan should marry an equal worthy of the Ashford name. Wray is sweet, but pedestrian. It’s entirely unnecessary for him to attach himself to someone that can’t uphold our family ideals. You live in a different world with different traditions and values. Your Mile High City charms won’t work here. I don’t know what he was thinking back in Hawaii, but he’s back in New York now, a place where Evan Theodore Monroe Ashford is revered and respected. He’s a catch not only amongst the best families in Manhattan, but across Europe as well. If you care for him at all, you will cut ties with him and let him live up to his potential. Don’t ruin his destiny. He can own this city if he chooses. He’s that talented.”
“Mrs. Ashford—”
“This isn’t a discussion or a request, Miss Wray. If you love him, you will put his needs before your own and won’t hold him back any longer. It’s going to be embarrassing and probably painful for you if you procrastinate any longer. Don’t worry though, he’ll most likely reflect fondly on the time you spent together.”
I remember saying something similar to Evan the first time I met him at the airport about his past flings. The words strike my heart, making it hurt, that I’m relegated to a mere ‘fling’ status in her mind.

Review:
I absolutely adored this book! I really liked Mid Life Love, so I figured this one would not disappoint. I have read some books lately that were second in the series that weren't so good, so I was concerned. However, this one did not disappoint!! I was hooked from chapter 1 and finished within a couple of hours. The characters in Mid Life Love are very likable, especially Jonathan Statham! He makes me swoon!

I felt like I was on a roller coaster through most of this story, one minute my heart was bursting with the swoon worthy moments, and then my heart would jump into my throat with anticipation of what was going to happen. Claire's ex decides to show up and he really causes a stink for Claire and Jonathan. Jonathan's security team have been intercepting mail from Ryan to Claire and Jonathan hopes to figure out why he all of a sudden is trying to talk to Claire.

I was very emotional towards the end of this book, I cried at some parts even. Whitney has an ability to make you fall hard for her characters, and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future!! I give  5 heart warming stars! Oh and the excerpt for Hayley's story about broke my heart! So I'm really excited for that one!!

Excerpt:

As soon as he was gone, I gained mobility again and threw my dust-wand down on the floor. I headed behind the counter, pressing the button that made the glass panel drop down and block anyone from coming any further; I didn’t want to take any chances on him returning minutes later.
I locked myself in the bathroom and ran cold water in the sink, splashing my face over and over again.
The mere thought of Ryan could still light a bitter flame within me, but seeing him? In person? That was a damn wildfire, and I wasn’t sure how long it would take to put it out.
I couldn’t believe his audacity—to actually show up and attempt to have a regular conversation with me, to act like I would give him the time of day.
What the fuck does he even want?
There was a knock at the door, but I didn’t answer it. I couldn’t. My body was shaking and my thoughts were consumed with rage and anger.
Why would he even show up here? He knows I HATE him…
“Claire?” Jonathan’s voice was on the other side of the door.
“Yes?” I snapped out of my trance and unlocked it.
“Why are you in here? And why is your face wet?” He grabbed a towel off the rack and softly pressed it against my cheeks. “Are you hot?”
“No…I’m…” I hesitated.
“We can reschedule the appointment.” He wrapped his arm around my waist and walked me back out front.
“I’ll let her know we can come another day. You don’t look like you’re feeling well.”
“I’m not…Ryan was just here.”
His body suddenly stiffened, and he looked down at me with his jaw clenched. “Your ex-husband Ryan?”
I nodded.
“What did he want?”
“I don’t know…I told him to leave. I didn’t want to talk to him.”
“Good.” His eyes softened a bit, but I could tell he was upset. “How does he know where you work?”
“I don’t know…” Caroline and Ashley knew better than to discuss me with Ryan, just like they knew better than to discuss him with me. The few mutual friends we shared back in Pittsburgh only knew tidbits of my new life—nothing major, and they would never share any information with him.
“Do you know why he would bother coming to San Francisco?”I shook my head. There was nothing here for him.
“Hmmm.” He pulled me close and kissed my hair. “I’ll make sure he never bothers you again.”
I wanted to ask, “How?” but I knew he would handle it. I leaned against him and sighed as he led me over to the passenger side of his car.
“Since you’re finally leaving work on time today, what would you like for dinner?” He revved up the engine and looked over at me.
“You.”
“That’s implied.” He grinned. “We can order something in.”
He pulled off and sped onto the highway, making me smile at how perfect my life seemed right now, how everything I wanted and needed was sitting right next to me in this car.
As I looked out my window and watched the city disappear in the distance, I tried not to think about Ryan’s visit, but I couldn’t help it.
Outside of scheduling time to see our daughters, Ryan hadn’t bothered me any other year that I’d been living here. He knew not to, and I didn’t need my painful past colliding with my perfect present. At all.
It has to be something really serious for him to come here…No, fuck him. It doesn’t matter what it is…
