From the author of the instant New York Times bestseller The Wives comes another twisted psychological thriller guaranteed to turn your world upside down.

Have you ever been wrong about someone?

Juno was wrong about Winnie Crouch.

Before moving in with the Crouch family, Juno thought Winnie and her husband, Nigel, had the perfect marriage, the perfect son—the perfect life. Only now that she’s living in their beautiful house, she sees the cracks in the crumbling facade are too deep to ignore.

Still, she isn’t one to judge. After her grim diagnosis, the retired therapist simply wants a place to live out the rest of her days in peace. But that peace is shattered the day Juno overhears a chilling conversation between Winnie and Nigel…

She shouldn’t get involved.

She really shouldn’t.

But this could be her chance to make a few things right.

Because if you thought Juno didn’t have a secret of her own, then you were wrong about her, too.

From the wickedly dark mind of bestselling author Tarryn Fisher, The Wrong Family is a taut new thriller that’s riddled with twists in all the right places.

Christy's Review:

As soon as I finished The Wrong Family, my first thought was what the heck did I just read... that's not an uncommon thought after finishing a book by Tarryn Fisher. I'm fascinated by how she thinks of these storylines. Though the first part of the book was a bit slow for me, I was engrossed. And after I got to the half way point, I couldn't put this book down. I had to know what would happen next.

This story has two narrators, Juno and Winnie. Both are intricate and complex, and I was intrigued by them both. Juno thinks she knows all about Winnie Crouch along with her husband Nigel and her son Sam, but after living with them for some time, she realizes there is much more to the Crouch family than she thought. Now she doesn't know what to do with it...

Winnie and Juno were both very likable, yet extremely unlikable. It honestly depended on whose perspective we were getting and what point in the story we were at. By the end, they were complex but I think I liked them both. I want to talk more about them and this story, but this is really one of those books you need to read on your own with no spoilers.

If you're looking for a book that will captivate you, make you think, and be on your mind for days later, pick up The Wrong Family. Fisher does thrillers so well and this one will have you guessing the twists and turns until the very last page.

Review: About Tomorrow by Abbi Glines

♦ ♦ ♦

About Tomorrow...

I close my eyes as I hear him speak. I take one very long and deep breath hoping to calm the immediate butterflies that take flight in my stomach and hope to slow down the racing of my heart. The voice was slightly deeper but the timbre was one that was achingly familiar.

My actions did little to help, but then who was I kidding? A deep breath wasn't going to fix the effect he had on me and my body's inevitable reaction. Even the memories that would forever haunt me couldn't keep my emotions from triggering at the nearness of him once again.

I used to pray that I'd find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from—the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora.

The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England.

Deep down, I knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned...

But I hadn't expected to see him again—especially not like this.

About Tomorrow is Abbi Glines at her angstiest. I’ve got to be honest, I picked this up because I loved the cover and blurb and I’ve loved this authors books in the past, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. For those of you looking for that delicious NA angsty goodness, this is the book for you!

Honestly, this review will be a bit vague because I feel like the blurb is vague and there is a lot that I could spoil. This is Sailor Copeland’s story and it’s a second chance romance. One of her childhood best friends and her first love, Creed Sullivan comes back into her life after she graduates college and least expects it. Sailor’s life is going on a clear path, but now with Creed back, things get a little messy.

I like angsty books, but they aren’t always my favorite if I’m not in the right mood. This one has a lot of angst in my opinion and there were times where things got a little too much, especially towards the end, but it also gave me a lot of feels which I loved. I love high emotion reads that make you feel.

Creed and Sailor’s love story is a beautiful one about first loves and second chances, but it also has some tragedy to it. If you’re looking for a read that will keep you glued to the pages and one that’s heart-wrenching and angsty, look no further than About Tomorrow.

Creed had put on a pair of faded jeans and a vintage Def Leppard tee shirt but he’d not brushed his hair. It worked for him but then Creed was the kind of sexy that could wear anything and still turn heads. As a little girl, I’d loved playing with him and as a teenage girl I had fallen in love with him.

“Hello,” I said so softly- it was almost a whisper.

“Their coffee is shit,” he said as he walked toward the kitchen.

I turned my gaze back to the fire. Pretending like we were strangers was difficult. Once there had been so much I wanted to say to him. I’d wanted to ask him why? What had I done wrong? Why had he turned on me without a reason?

Now, he was here. We were in the same room and I had no words. I couldn’t think of one thing to say.

I heard him in the kitchen and as much as I wanted to not care that he was here my body was attuned to his every move. Maybe it was my nerves or uncertainty. It couldn’t possibly be more than that. His footsteps were soft and I realized he must be barefoot. The cold wouldn’t affect him like it did me. He was a New Englander.

He sat down in the chair across from the sofa and his gaze was on me. I didn’t want to look at him. The fire was less confusing and unsettling. I didn’t have to pretend with the fire. Creed however was a different story. How did he expect me to act like we were strangers when there was so much in our past?

Second Chance Sports Romance

Noah Winters was my heart’s desire, the boy I loved desperately and had hoped to spend my future with. Until our plans were derailed and life took us in completely different directions.

When our fate changed, and our paths crossed again, nothing prepared me for the punch straight to the heart when I saw him . . . or his anger and bitterness.

He was no longer the boy I once knew, but an accomplished Olympic swimmer with life goals that no longer aligned with mine.

All because I lied.

But sometimes, hiding the truth was necessary, especially when it freed someone you loved to reach their aspirations and dreams.

It’s said that time heals all wounds, but what I found was that it can also create an enemy.

That meant I had a choice.

Apologize to Noah, and possibly let him into my heart again . . . or allow him to live his life without knowing why I walked away. Without knowing that I never actually wanted to leave.

I've read most of Jasmin Miller's books and I've enjoyed them all, but this one is by far my favorite. Her best work yet. This book had just the right amount of romance, friendship, emotion and angst. The perfect second chance romance!

She left and never said goodbye. And took my heart with her.

Noah Winters is an Olympic athlete and the love of Chloe Williams life. They were each others everything, but Chloe moved away and Noah was left alone. It's been a decade since they've seen one another, but Chloe is back in town now and wouldn't you know it... fate seems to be intervening because they keep running into one another.

Noah is taking a little break from his rigorous swimming training and ends up spending time with Chloe while on his break. Chloe knows leaving Noah the way she did wasn't right, but she had her reasons and they were good reasons, but telling him she's sorry and why she left the way she did is harder than she anticipated.

This story hit me right in the feels. I felt for Chloe. She had been through so much the past ten years and is incredibly strong. And Noah... what an amazing guy. I adored him. No matter how much time had passed, he couldn't deny that he never truly got over Chloe. They were meant to be.

When done right, I love a second chance romance so much, and this was done so right. Chloe and Noah's story was stunning, inspirational, had the best kind of angst, and a beautiful romance. I highly recommend picking this one up!

Audio Review: Keeping You Away by Kennedy Fox

I never planned on returning to Alabama, but circumstances brought me here after years of being gone. Though Lawton Ridge is my hometown, I was hesitant to go back because of her —my sister’s best friend. The last time we were together, she was eighteen, and I was a broken soldier transitioning to civilian life.

Gemma wrote to me while I was overseas and we developed a bond I hadn’t anticipated. I crushed her heart the day I left, something I’ve never forgotten. But now that her dad is my new boss, life just got way more complicated.

Too sweet, too innocent, too good for a guy like me—I should walk away again.

After serving five years in prison for something I didn’t do, I trust no one, but Gemma gradually breaks down my walls and exposes the pain I’ve hidden underneath. For her own sake, I should keep my distance, but it’s nearly impossible when I hear her sweet humming while I work and she slowly draws me back in. It’s a battle I didn’t train for, and one I’ll lose if I don’t keep my restraint—especially since she’s engaged to another man.

Christy's 4 star review:

Keeping You Away is a best friend's brother/second chance romance that had me captivated from start to finish. This is one of those books you won't want to put down. I can't wait to get to the second part!

Tyler and Gemma started off as friends and pen pals when Gemma was still in high school and Tyler was in the military. Through the 4 years Tyler was enlisted, they got to know each other through those letters and fell for each other. When he came home, they spend one magical summer together before everything changed. The majority of this book takes place twelve years after that summer.

Tyler is back in town and gets a job at the local garage, where Gemma's dad is her boss. She's also the office manager there. And Gemma is engaged. Yeah, it's a bit angsty, but I loved waiting to see where things would go with Tyler and Gemma. I really liked Tyler, Gemma though- I was frustrated with her at times. I understand why she made some of the choices, she did, but there were moments I wanted to scream at her.

I enjoyed listening to the audiobook of Keeping You Away and especially loved the male narrator's (Tor Thom) voicing of Tyler. This one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it's nothing too awful. Definitely makes me want to pick up book 2 ASAP!
