Jay McLean is one of those authors that always writes stories that speak straight to my heart. No other author can make me laugh, cry, and feel as strongly as her. Leo is a testament to that. This book gave me all the feels, had me crying at times, but also made me laugh and smile so much. It’s such a talent to be able to always evoke those kinds of emotions EVERY TIME but somehow, Jay does. She is magic.

Mia and Leo first meet one summer when they’re just kids. Mia’s staying with her mother for the summer (the Preston’s nanny) and the two become friends. Leo looks forward to his time with Mia and wants to keep her all to himself. Mia doesn’t know how she would survive those summers without Leo Preston. Leo is different than his brothers. He’s a little more shy, more reserved, but has a big heart.

One summer, things change for these two and they lose touch. A few years later, Leo and Mia are thrown together in a different way. This time, they’re no longer kids, but teenagers. This story spans their adolescence, as well as early adulthood.

Leo Preston is my new favorite Preston. I could not have loved this guy more. He was loyal, kind, and so totally and utterly in love with Mia. I felt so much for Mia. She’s dealing with some serious stuff throughout this story and I’m so glad she had so many people who loved her in her corner. She’s strong, brave, and she and Leo and perfect for one another.

What I love so much about the ‘Preston Brothers’ series, is though they have great romances, there is such a strong focus on family. I love the familial aspect as well as the friendships. Some of the secondary characters are incredible. I loved Mia’s grandpa and her bff Holden so much. And Leo’s dad is amazing as always. We also got the treat of drunk Lucy. Though this book can be read as a stand-alone, I will always recommend reading Lucy’s book (More Than Forever) and the Preston Brothers (Lucas and Logan) first to get the full feel of these characters.

Leo and Mia’s story was perfect. And with some of the subject matter, no one is more surprised I’m saying that than me. Both of these characters are imperfect and flawed, but they love each other so deeply. Their friendship and romance was stunning and I couldn’t get enough. This story swept me off my feet and will most certainly be on my top favorites list for 2020!

Every day, we rise.

This book is one I've been waiting for for YEARS. I read the first book in this series in May of 2015, so it's been a while, but let me tell you... It was so worth the wait! I loved it so much that when I finished it in late December, I rearranged all my top reads of the year and put it in the top 3. It was that good.

Nate is one of my favorite characters Jay has ever written and this book just solidified that. He's not perfect, but I believe he does the best with the hand he was dealt in life. Bailey is amazing, too. She's so strong and as insane as her life has been, she's still a light. The time Nate and Bailey spend together in 'Redemptive' is an unconventional way to fall in love, but they did.

Twenty-seven years of life and the only living I ever really did was with her.

Some time has passed, but the feelings they have haven't changed. There is SO MUCH I want to say about this book. So much I want to talk about, but honestly, it's so convoluted between all three books that it's impossible to do so unless you've read all three. I will say I loved this book, I love this couple, and I really love Tiny. He's the true MVP of this book. I couldn't have loved him, and his bromance with Nate more.

This is the trilogy to read. It's so passionate, intense, romantic, and suspenseful. Jay's writing is perfection and her character building is out of this world. Everything ties together in this book. All your questions will be answered and everything will come together seamlessly. This story is epic, it's flawless, and it needs to be read. If you haven't jumped on board yet, start with 'Combative' and enjoy the ride!

Maybe it started with Bailey. Maybe Bailey’s the beginning and Bailey’s the end.
