ABOUT ONE TRUE LOVES:
In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.
On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever. Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.
That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.
Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly? Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

CHRISTY'S REVIEW:
Taylor Jenkins Reid is an author that has a talent for making you think about her stories and your life in general. This is the second book of hers I’ve read, and my mind is going a mile a minute. One True Loves is definitely a book that will make you think. It also gave me all the feels, which I love. It’s a book about a woman who had an impossible choice to make. I don’t envy this heroine at all. Being in love twice isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…
Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse, and they are happy. They’re in love and doing what they always wanted to do. Traveling the world. Then something traumatic happens. They’ve only been married a year, and Jesse goes missing in the Pacific ocean. He’s lost forever, so Emma thinks. She moves back home and settles running the family business. After years pass, she moves on. It’s time. The grief has consumed her for far too long.
You start to understand that grief is chronic. That it’s more bout remission and relapse than it is about a cure. What that means to you is that you can’t simply wait for it to be over. You have to move through it, like swimming an undertow.
Emma runs into Sam, a friend from high school, and sparks fly. Emma will always love Jesse, but he’s gone. She realizes that maybe she wasn’t meant to only have one love.
What she and Sam have is different than what she and Jesse had, but it’s just as strong. She’s settled with Sam. She loves who she is with him and can see a future. They become engaged and things are looking up for them. Until she gets a phone call from a ghost- her long lost husband. It shakes her to her core.
Emma now has a husband and a fiancé. Her past, her present, they are both colliding. As I said before, I don’t envy Emma at all. Her choice is impossible to make. I personally loved both Sam and Jesse. I knew my heart was going to break no matter who she chose.
“Just… just do me a favor.”“Anything.”“Don’t stay with me if you want to be with him,” he says. “Don’t do that to me.”
This story really toyed with my emotions. I was a mess while reading. I cried more than once. I bit my nails to the quick. The angst really got to me at times. Then there came a point where I came to terms with what was happening and I was okay with it.
Reid’s writing is top notch and this story is equal parts heartfelt and heart wrenching. For those readers who are looking for something that will make you feel, make you think and want to read a story about finding yourself and true love- pick this one up. This is a book I will never forget!
