Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen

Bittersweet
 True North #1
by Sarina Bowen
Release date: 6/14/2016

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn't have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

Bella's Review: 4.5 STARS!!!

Sarina Bowen is such a talented author. Her Ivy Years Series holds a special place in my heart. Bittersweet is the first book in a NEW SERIES by Sarina Bowen!!!!!

Sarina Bowen's writing is like a warm blanket on a cold night. I just love her writing style - it's so easy for me to read. So easy to become invested in the characters. So easy to keep turning the pages.

Griffin is portrayed as a grumpy farmer. But I LOVED Griffin!!!!! He's such a selfless hard working man. When his father died, he gave up his football career to come home and run his families farm. He is working hard to provide for his mother and siblings. I loved learning about life on a farm. And the secondary characters - Griff's mom, grandpa, siblings and cousins - they added to the story line. I really just wanted to jump into the story and become a part of this family.

While Griffin is surrounded by family, Audrey is not. Her mother never approved of her choices and cut her off financially. After failing out of college, she found her true passion in cooking. I LOVED reading about her cooking and her aspirations. She's cheerful, quirky and while ambitious, she's full of self doubt.

When Audrey and Griffin bump into each other, the chemistry that they once shared in college comes back to life.

Sarina Bowen can really write chemistry. I mean. Really!

Loved the chemistry between these two characters.

Loved watching Griffin and Audrey grow into better people.

Loved watching the connections being formed between Audrey and Griffin's family.

Loved this second chance romance!!!

Highly recommend.

I can't wait for Jude's story. That one is going to tear my heart out, I can just tell.  I hope Zach gets a book too. And the cousins. And all the siblings. LOL. I just always want more!!!!
