Reanell's Review: 5 stars!!
Wow. Just WOW! I am a huge fan of Stylo's writing ability. I fell in total love with her The Kane Trilogy and when I saw she was doing another book I got really excited. But then I read the blurb and was a little scared, because come on, cheating in books is hardly something most authors can pull off. But not only did she pull it off, she did it phenomenally!
I must warn the readers though.....READ THE BLURB.....READ THE WARNING! If cheating is a big NO for you, you may want to skip this one. All I can say is, if you do give this book a chance make sure to stick with it. Don't get half-way through and give up. There is a method to Stylo's madness!! You will not be disappointed!
Christy's Review:
I was a little nervous about starting this book. Cheating in books isn’t a complete deal breaker for me. I know it happens in real life, it’s messy, but sometimes it’s real. That being said, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a heroine who went out of her way to cheat on her husband. I mean, why not just leave? I’m not condoning anything our Mischa did, but I did understand her and relate to her much more than I thought was possible.
I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Mischa is not happy. She married her best friend years ago, but she’s not in love with him anymore. She’s not sure if she ever was. After much deliberation, she decides to do it. To have one night with a stranger. It’s been so long since she’s been wanted, been desired. She needs that.
While in Italy for work, she meets Tal. Tal is handsome, charming and mysterious. She is drawn to him. They have one explosive night and it’s better than she ever imagined it could be. One time between these two just isn’t enough. They know nothing can ever come of this affair. Tal travels for work and his job is unpredictable. Mischa will be going back to the states soon enough. But there is fire between them, intense chemistry. It quickly becomes more than just sex. And that’s a scary thing for them both.
Something about this woman. She makes me want more. All of her. All the time.
I wanted him to save me. I wanted to be baptized in his skin, purified in his love. I was a sinner, or worse. I wanted him to make me whole. I wanted him to take away the pain and the guilt and the hurt and the wrong. I was blinded by him, with him, to him. I wanted him to save me.
As I said before, nothing surprised me more about this story than the way I actually liked and connected with the main character. She made some bad choices, but it was coming from a place of desperation, and even a place of love in a way. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt. She wasn’t going out to destroy anyone or anything. She felt trapped. She didn’t want to hurt the man she loved. But she had to do something.
Tal is sexy. He’s fun and likable. There are really no ‘bad people’ in this book. Just people who made bad choices. Tal and Mischa didn’t go out to hurt anyone and they didn’t try to fall in love… even though it happened.
My Time in the Affair is an engaging, entertaining, heartbreakingly beautiful tale of an imperfect woman who’s finding her way in life. It does have romance, some mystery and is an emotional read. Obviously, if you don’t like reading about cheating, this may not be the book for you. It’s so beautifully written and the story itself isn’t quite what you’d think.
“Falling for you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”

I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.
But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.
Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...
WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don't like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.

Excerpt:
“I can't do this,” she stated bluntly.
He smiled. That annoying, smirky, sly smile.
“And why not, Mischa?” he asked, his voice low as he folded his arms across his chest.
“Because, I'm married. I don't want to hurt him. I like you, I really do, but I just … can't. I don't … I don't want this,” her voice fell into a whisper.
“You don't want me?” Tal clarified. Misch looked away.
“It's not that,” she sighed.
“You do want me.”
“That doesn't matter. I'm married.”
“That didn't matter, two minutes ago.”
“Well, it matters now.”
“When was the last time he touched you like that?”
She looked back at Tal.
“A long time,” she replied.
“How long?”
“Months. I'm not sure. Maybe six, maybe more.”
Tal stared at her for a long moment. His eyes wandered over her face, then down her body. Clear to her feet. Back up again, lingering at her hips and breasts before locking onto her eyes.
“I would touch you like that everyday,” he said softly.
About the Author
Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
