LIVE! Old Fashioned by Kandi Steiner

It’s a man’s world.

When I declared sports medicine as my major and every man narrowed their eyes, that saying proved true. It was true when my ex-husband decided I’d give up my career when our daughter was born. And again when I divorced the Chief of Police in our small town, and he made it painfully clear that I could leave him, but I would never be free.

Landing the job as the new athletic trainer for Stratford’s high school team is my chance to start over. And walking into a male-dominated sport and staff, I’m ready for the challenge.

I’m not ready for Jordan Becker.

The head coach of our championship winning team is a Herculean force of nature—as severe as he is determined. His icy blue eyes and permanent scowl drive the women in this town mad, and his quiet power and undeniable command conjure respect from every man.

When I join his team, I expect the doubt and anticipate the fight from him. And I get them both.

I don’t expect to form a friendship.

And I never expect to fall for him.

My breath catches when those cool eyes fall to my lips. My body comes alive when his is near. And as those lines begin to blur, every warning bell sounds.

My job, my reputation are on the line.
And my ex is around every corner, waiting to remind me of his power.

It’s a man’s world, and if I want to survive, I can never fall in love with Jordan Becker.

Even if he falls in love with me first.

I’ve been hooked on the Becker Brothers series since book one, and as happy as I am to get to read Jordan’s book and finally discover the one thing that’s been building through the stories, I’m sad to see them end. I’ve fallen in love with this family and I’m not quite ready to let go. Kandi ended this series with a fantastic romance between Jordan and Sydney!

Jordan is the oldest Becker brother. He was adopted at birth, but has always been just as much a part of the Becker family as the others. The only difference is he never wanted anything to do with the whiskey distillery. His passion is football and he’s the coach of a high school championship team.

Sydney is a recently divorced single mom who gets a job with the football team Jordan coaches. She’s the new athletic trainer and Jordan is worried she’ll be a distraction for the guys. She’s gorgeous. But it’s not the high school boys he should worry about, Sydney becomes the best kind of distraction for him.

Sydney Kelly was not the kind of woman you could pass by without noticing.

I loved Sydney and Jordan’s romance. They had this instant attraction, but it was more than that. Watching their romance blossom was beautiful. And my most favorite part of this book… Paige. Sydney’s daughter was amazing. I loved her relationship with Jordan and the other Becker’s as well. These characters are such a great family unit and it makes me so happy to read books like that. Books where son’s dance with their moms after dinner and towns where everyone knows everyone. Gah. I just love it so much!

Though Old Fashioned can be read as a stand-alone, there is a story line that’s been carried through all the books and I highly recommend you read the whole series to get the full effect. I loved seeing how things concluded and was happy to see how everything turned out.

Kandi Steiner does small town romances so well. I’ve adored this entire series. This was sweet, steamy, and gave me the best kind of feels. If you love a good single parent romance, pick this one up! If you’re looking for a fabulous familial series, the Becker Brothers books are must reads!

In my heart, I knew there was nothing the Becker brothers couldn’t face together.

5 stars to NEAT by Kandi Steiner!

My life is over.⁣

I swore I would never work at the whiskey distillery with my last name on it, that I would never be a part of my father’s legacy. But when I graduated with my art degree and realized there were no jobs, the devil appeared, and I sold my soul, agreeing to work in the family business if he’d give me the art studio I’d always dreamed of.⁣
It can’t be that bad, I thought. ⁣
Until I realized my new boss was Logan Becker.⁣
The Becker brothers have a reputation for being trouble, and since I love trouble, it’s no surprise to me that I’m infatuated by that forbidden fruit the first day I walk into the distillery. That lean, whiskey-eyed, too-hot-for-his-own-good man hates me — and I can’t blame him. His family has been at war with mine for decades, and for good reason.⁣
The Beckers and the Scooters are the Montagues and Capulets of Stratford, Tennessee.⁣
But if he’s Romeo, and I’m Juliet? Well… we all know how that story ends — and for that reason, I tell myself to steer clear. ⁣
Because if my father finds out I’m falling for Logan Becker, my life actually will be over.⁣
And Logan’s will be, too.⁣

Neat is the second Becker brother’s book, and as much as I enjoyed the first one, I loved this one so much more. And let me tell you why… Logan freaking Becker! Logan is the Becker brother to beat. And good luck to the other two left because it will be a hard feat. I loved this boy so much!

The Becker family and the Scooter family have been feuding for decades over the whiskey distillery in town that their families founded together. Only the Scotters’ took all the credit for it, leaving the Beckers high and dry. Logan Becker is one of the middle Becker brothers and doesn’t date seriously. No one in town can hold his attention long enough. Then Mallory Scooter comes back to town. Mallory has always fascinated him, but he can’t ever go there.

We were the son and daughter of a bitter rival sparked to life decades ago and still burning hot today. There was no option for me to entertain my infatuation with her…

But now, he’s stuck training her. Mallory is a bit of a rebel, especially when it comes to her family. She’s never wanted to be a part of them or the distillery but when her dad offers her an art studio that she’s desperate for in exchange for working at the distillery for a few years, she begrudgingly decides to take him up on it. She doesn’t expect to like it there, but then again, she never expected someone like Logan Becker to be training her.

You know that bad boy/good girl troupe? Take that and reverse it. I loved that twist! Logan was definitely the good guy and Mallory had that bad girl attitude. Towards the start Mallory acted immature and unprofessional, and I wasn’t sure if I would like her. There was one scene in particular where she came to work acting all kinds of crazy and I was like nooooo, but she did end up winning me over as I got to know her better. She had a huge heart and I completely understood why she was a rebellious type of person.

Then there was Logan. Logan is particular, organized, and for lack of a better word, a neat freak. He loves to read and learn in his spare time and always gives 100% to his job and his family. I found everything about him so endearing. I adored him. When they say opposites attract, well, these two prove that to be true. Even though both of them know it’s a bad idea, there is this pull between them, this chemistry they can’t deny. And they both get tired of fighting it. But where could things possibly go between them? Only time can tell…

“Mallory?” “Yes?” “Do you think there’s a universe that exists where you could be mine?”
“Let’s make one.”

Neat had so many things I love in a romance. Small town setting, enemies to lovers, Romeo/Juliet style forbidden love. It was sweet, fun, sexy, and emotional. And it had the perfect hero. Kandi’s writing always blows me away and this is one of my favorite books she’s written. I can’t recommend this book highly enough and I’m so looking forward to reading more of the Becker brother’s books!

We were inevitable, me and him. And maybe we knew it from the start.

On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

OTR- RB banner.jpg

On the Rocks, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

OTR Cover FINAL.png

Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.

That’s what Mama told me when I was a kid, kicking his pew in church and giggling at the games we’d play. It’s what the town said when his father died and the Becker brothers went wild.

And it’s on repeat in my mind the day I walk into the whiskey distillery where he works to buy a wedding gift for my fiancé.

He’s trouble.

Dirty, sweaty, rude trouble.

No matter how many times I repeat it, I can’t escape Noah in our small Tennessee town. And the more I run into him, the more he infuriates me. Because he sees what no one else does.

He sees me—the real me.

The me I’m not sure I’m allowed to be.

I’m Ruby Grace Barnett, the mayor’s daughter. Soon to be a politician’s wife, just like Mama and Daddy always wanted.  Soon to fulfill my family’s legacy, just like I always knew I would.

Until the boy everyone warned me about makes me question everything, like whether the wedding I’m planning is one I even want.

Everyone said Noah Becker was nothing but trouble.

If only I had listened.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

“I’ve heard some of the best adventures come from finding yourself a little lost,”

I love a good ol' small town country romance, and I love Kandi Steiner's writing, so I had a feeling this book would be a win for me. And I was right. It was sweet, sexy, light-hearted, with just the perfect amount of angst.

Ruby Grace Barnett is the daughter of the mayor and was raised to be a wife of a politician. She didn't think it would happen when she was 19, but here she is engaged. Everything is going according to plan until she runs into Noah Becker. Noah genuinely cares for Ruby and makes her think about her wants, her dreams, and if she's really willing to give up her entire life for someone else. Someone who doesn't support her dreams.

“If you were mine, Ruby Grace, your dreams wouldn’t come second to anything.”

Even though this was first and foremost a romance, it was also very much a book about a woman finding herself and coming into her own.I love self discovery books. I love watching people dig deep and come out on the other side better than before. And I love when they find someone who can bring the best out in them. Noah brought out the very best in Ruby Grace and made her see herself in a different light.

As always, Kandi's writing was wonderful. That is always a given! After reading On the Rocks, I'm super excited for these other Becker boys to get their own books. I'm looking forward to reading more books about this family/set of characters.

Overall I loved this slow-burn love story! If you're looking for a romance that will make you swoon and smile big with fabulous couple with the best banter, pick this one up!!

About Kandi:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

What He Never Knew by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

WHNK - RB banner.jpg

What He Never Knew, a standalone teacher/student romance in the What He Doesn't Know series by bestselling author Kandi Steiner is live!

WHNK Cover.png

I never learn my lesson.

And I always want what I can’t have.

When Sarah Henderson walks into my life, I tell myself she’s off limits. She’s my student, sixteen years younger than me, and my boss’s niece. It doesn’t matter that I see the same pain reflected in her eyes that I have in my own, or that the dead organ better known as my heart kicks to life when she’s around.

I’ve been here before, and I know how this ends.

It’s been two years since I fell for the last woman I knew I couldn’t have, the one with the ring on her finger that I chose to ignore.

Two years of trying to overcome that heartache when Sarah slides into my life.

Another woman I can’t have. Another woman I can’t stop myself from wanting.

I never learn my lesson, but with a constant reminder of how that last forbidden love burned, I think I’ve finally learned this one.

This time, I won’t chase what’s off limits.

This time, I’m staying away.

And I’ll keep telling myself that until I believe it.

If you've read Kandi Steiner's What He Doesn't Know duet, you've met Reese. Though Reese wasn't the boy I was rooting for in those particular books, I still wanted him to get his happy. Reading this really made me feel for him. This story was emotional, sensual, and beautify written.

Reese was an entire universe, and the piano was a mere telescope we tried to see him through.

Reese Walker teaches piano. The piano is all he really has in his life, and he's mostly okay with that. After losing everyone who ever meant anything to him, he's a loner. Then Sarah Henderson walks into his life, or his piano lessons. Sarah is much younger than Reese, but there is something between them from the start. It's a spark. But it's more. Reese can tell Sarah is harboring the same kind of pain he is. He can feel it in her. He works with her to make her the best pianist she can be, and he starts to fall along the way.

Sarah is not the girl she used to be. She used to be a fun loving, yet serious college student. After a terrible incident had her dropping out of college and coming to Pennsylvania to stay with her aunt and uncle, piano is all she has in her life, much like Reese. Reese Walker is the best of the best and Sarah knows how lucky she is to be taught by him. Even though Sarah has sworn off men for good reasons, Reese is different. She trusts him. Something she never thought she'd be able to do again.

I once believed I’d find my prince, my one and only soulmate who would make all the pieces of my life fall perfectly in place. Now, the only love I believed in was the love I felt for the piano.

No one writes quite like Kandi Steiner. Her story telling is flawless and her words are poetic and gorgeous. This book hit me in the feels. Both Reese and Sarah's stories gutted me. Sarah especially. I feel like her story is so many other women's stories. It's heartbreaking. I'm so glad she had Reese. I'm glad they had each other. My favorite stories are those where the characters are a little broken, but together, they heal. This was exactly that.

The ending of this story had me crying the happiest of tears. This was a lovely book. It was real, raw, and made me feel. It was a little heavy at times, and the romance was a bit forbidden as Reese was her teacher and he was 37 to her 21, but I rooted for them to be together. I loved seeing Sarah's journey and I also loved watching Reese come back to himself. I really enjoyed this one and recommend to anyone who read the duet before it (it can be read as a stand-alone, but I think you'll get more out of it if you've read the others) and those who love emotional reads!!

Nothing about us made sense, and yet, there was no other possibility. It was me and him and us. It just was. And it always would be.
