Blog Tours: Little Lies by H. Hunting

“H. Hunting pens a heartbreaking tale that leaves readers absolutely breathless from beginning to end. One of her best books yet!”
- Stacey Lynn, author

Little Lies, an all-new, angsty and emotional new adult romance from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting writing as H. Hunting is out now!

I don’t want you.
You mean nothing to me.
I never loved you.
I turned my words into swords.
And I cut her down.
Shoved the blade in and watched her fall.
I said I’d never hurt her, and I did.
Years later, I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted, when all I wanted was to indulge my obsession.
Lavender Waters is the princess in the tower. Even her name is the thing fairy tales are made of.
I used to be the one who saved her.
Over and over again.
But I don’t want to save her anymore.
I just want to pretend the lies are still the truth.

        CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

This book was so different than most Helena Hunting books, but in a good way. I loved the emotional and angsty story of Lavender Waters and Kodiak Bowman. If you've read the 'Pucked' series, Lavender is Alex and Violet's daughter, and Kodiak is Rook and Lainey's son from 'A Lie for a Lie'. Though having the parent's background is great and imo adds a lot to the book, this can most definitely be read as a stand alone.

Lavender and Kodiak used to be really close friends. In fact, Kodiak was her savior in a way. Lavender has dealt with intense anxiety and even some ptsd from a childhood trauma, and Kodiak was there for her. He was just a kid himself, but he got her in a way no one else did. When he moved away, everything changed for them.

I used to be the one to save her. Now I’m the reason she falls apart.

Lavender is now starting her sophomore year of college but this year she's not at the community college living at home. This year she's on campus and living with her older brother Maverick and her twin, River. She knew she might run into Kodiak, but she didn't expect him to be at her house all the time. Though maybe she should have, he is Mav's best friend. Things are not copacetic between the two of them. In fact, at times they're down right volatile. But then, things start to shift.

My favorite thing about this book was Lavender and what an amazing and incredibly strong heroine she was. Not only did she slay her own demons, she helped Kody with his in a way. I love that she didn't make things easy for him, that she made him work for it.
“I hope all the suffering was worth it. If you really want me, I guess you’re going to have to find a way to deserve me.”

I really liked Kodiak too, especially towards the end of the book and in the flashbacks. Honestly, it took me a while to really get his character and I think that was the only thing that put me in a bit of a disconnect with the story. Still, I loved both of these characters and the anxiety rep was fantastic.

Another great thing about this book was getting to meet so many of my favorite Helena Hunting characters kids all grown up. The possibilities for books in this world with this group are endless. I would love one about either of Lavender's brothers or BJ. I hope she continues to write them!

If you're looking for a love story that's a bit of a rocky road but will leave you fully satisfied, pick this one up. It's full of angst, emotion, family, friendship, and romance. I loved it!
