Christy's Review:
Baking and Babies by Tara Sivec
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 stars!
Baking and Babies is the final book in the Chocoholics/Chocolate Lovers Series. It’s bittersweet for me. These are characters I’ve been reading about for a long time. I love the family, the friendship, and the hilarity of their crazy antics. The original Chocolate series is one of my favorite funny series. I recommend those books to anyone looking for a laugh. And the spin offs about the main characters children have been fantastic as well. Baking and Babies is Molly Gilmore’s (Liz and Jim’s youngest daughter) story.
Molly (aka the quiet ninja) is graduating culinary school. She’s been in an accelerated program for the last 2 years and has quite the crush on her student teacher. Just as things are starting to possibly come together between her and Marco, her crazy family intervenes. Her sister needs her help, so of course Molly is there for her. And along with that, Marco gets included in all the shenanigans.
I know it’s crazy, but it feels right. I can’t explain how after only spending a few hours with her I feel like I’ve know her forever instead of just fantasizing about her for two years from a distance.
Molly and Marco were great together. Their chemistry was there and I loved them both. Their relationship had not even started yet when Marco got thrown into the mix of Molly’s family. Marco’s reaction to Molly’s family was spot on. I love the family element of these stories. Even though these characters have a funny way of showing it, you can totally feel the love between them. They are anything but normal, but as Molly states- Normal is overrated.
“Does your family ever do anything normal?”
“Normal is overrated.”
I remember reading the first book in this series years ago and laughing out loud in public. Loudly. There are still so many lines from those books that I spout off randomly. That, my friends, is a memorable series. I love Tara’s writing and I love that she can write so many different things. Even though her funny books are my favorite, some of her more series stories and romances have been amazing as well. If you’re looking for a book/series with a lot of laughs and a lot of heart, this is one you must pick up!
