After meeting Garrett in Sawyer Bennett’s first Cold Fury Hockey book (Alex) I was so excited for his story. I love the man whores. I love the ones that change their way for that one special girl. The ones that aren’t looking for love, but when it hits them, they fall hard.
Garrett Samuelson’s life is perfect. He’s doing what he loves to do more than anything (play hockey), he’s getting paid very well to do it, he has great friends and he can get any girl whenever he wants. He’s the fling king. The guy who only does one night stands. Maybe the occasional repeat, but never a relationship. It’s just the way he is. He has no problems with relationships, he’s just never met anyone who’s made him want to be in one.
Oliva Case is Sutton’s (Alex’s girl) cousin. She is gorgeous, sweet and fun. She’s a florist who loves her job. She gets to work with her best friend every day so it’s pretty perfect for her. Olivia isn’t looking for a relationship right now, but she doesn’t do the one night stands either. She’s just not that type of girl. Olivia is going through something right now that makes her hesitant to jump into a relationship. It makes her want to take risks. To be daring and bold. To live life to the very fullest.

Olivia knows it’s not fair to start up a relationship with Garrett right now. Not when she’s going through some tough stuff and her life is pretty unpredictable. But little by little, he starts to wear her down. When he finds out whats going on, he’s more than supportive. He wants to be there for her. For the first time in his life, he wants someone to depend on him. Olivia means so much to him, he would do anything for her.
Olivia was such a strong heroine. She was fun, spunky and sweet. I loved her relationship with her mom and her bestie, Stevie. She had a lot of strength, but the times she ran low, Garrett was right there to pick her up. I got so much more out of Garrett than I expected. He really stepped up to the plate. He was loving, devoted, and of course, sexy as hell. Their story wasn’t easy, but their love was stronger because of it.
To be honest, I was expecting Garrett to be all sweet and sexy like Alex and it was sweet. And it was sexy. But damn. It was emotional too. It had a trigger topic for me (view spoiler) which probably made me a little more emotional than some. I cried more than once. But I also smiled a lot, laughed and swooned. There was a little insta love, but with the situation, it was easily overlooked for me. After reading this story, I am anxious to get the next in the series. Watching those events unfold has me nervous for Zach’s book. Overall, this is a series I like a lot and I’m looking forward to continuing it with more Cold Fury players!
