Synopsis
Music critic Claire Abby is a single mom dreading her daughter’s departure for college and worried that turning forty will leave her career running on fumes. She’s floored when she lands a Rolling Stone cover story on 80s British rock legend Christopher Penman. She spent her teenage years fantasizing he was her boyfriend.
In person, Christopher is everything Claire feared he’d be—charming, witty, and unwilling to address the rumors he’s dodged for a decade. Still, she contains her adolescent fantasies and manages to earn his trust, unearthing the truth and the devastating secret behind it. His blockbuster story is her first priority when she returns home, a nearly impossible task when Christopher starts calling and flirting. She knows she should maintain a professional distance. She knows she should focus on the story. She knows it would be best to simply walk away. But how can she say “no” to the man she could never forget?

Review of Bring Me Back and Back Forever
Have you ever dreamed that you would meet your favorite musician and he would fall in love and you would live happily ever after? I think we all have as teenagers. Well Claire gets to meet the musician she loved when she was a teenager. You could even go as far as to say she was Banks Forest #1 fan. She currently works for a company where her boss asks her to interview Chris Penman, the lead singer from Forest Banks. The band is no longer together and Chris is working on his solo career. He's had some bad luck with the press after his messy divorce so he's looking for some good press.
I've read quite a few rock star books, but this one was so different from everything else I've read. Instead of this being about a young couple, the main characters are in their 40's. It was a nice change, the characters are more mature and know what they want in life. Once Claire and Chris meet, they have a connection and they become friends. Claire doesn't want to become more than that because she is afraid of what complications will arise with her job. After a few weeks they can't control their feelings and decide to start dating.
And let me tell you, the first time they have sex is off the charts hot. Geez, I was sweating just reading it! I loved how Claire wanted to take things slow and let the relationship build up from friendship. She had a teenage daughter to be concerned about after all.
Some things happen with Chris' past and his ex-wife is the one stirring up more drama. Chris leaves his home and stays with Claire to get away. Claire's father is not impressed by Chris at all and decides to step in. This part was heart breaking for me.
Back Forever is life after the heartache. I don't want to go into too much detail because I don't want to ruin the story. Just know that this series is worth the read. I enjoyed the characters, the writing was fantastic and the storyline was well thought out. I'll be looking for more by Karen Booth in the future.
About the Author
Karen Booth is a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with rock ‘n’ roll led her to spend her twenties working her way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of her writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. When she isn't creating fictional musicians, she's listening to everything from to Duran Duran to Otis Redding with her kids, honing her Southern cooking skills or sweet-talking her astoundingly supportive husband into whipping up a batch of cocktails.
