Anarchy Found by JA Huss Release + GIVEAWAY!

Anarchy Found – Alpha Lincoln
J.A. Huss
(SuperAlpha Series)
Publication date: December 2nd 2015 (Pre-order 11/29!)
Genres: Superhero Romance
Everyone needs a hero.
That’s what Detective Molly Masters tells me. “What we need,” she says, “what the whole world needs,” she pleads, “is a champion.”
The only thing I want to talk about with Molly Masters is how I’d like to make her scream my name when I push her up against a wall, slide my hand up her thigh, and live out my wildest fantasies.
“Someone who will fight against injustice,” she says.
I’ll fight against anything you want, honey. Just come a little closer.
“Someone who will stand tall in the face of adversity,” she says.
I’ll do it standing, sitting, or lying down. See how easy I am?
“Someone who believes in the value of a good deed,” she says.
I believe in the value of me, sweetheart. Because I’m Lincoln Wade. Jaded genius, obscenely wealthy, capable of violence, and looking for revenge.
Molly Masters might have delusions of grandeur. She might see me as some superman capable of cleaning up the scum, filth, and corruption in Cathedral City.
But I’m not the hero she’s looking for.
I’m the dark alley where all her good intentions hide.
So be careful what you wish for, Molly Masters.
Because you’re about to get it.

CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

5 Gun Girl & Bike Boy stars!

How do I begin to write a review for this book? I love superheroes, I love antiheroes, I love twisty stories and I love Julie’s writing so this was an epic book for me! Talk about an original concept. The direction this story took- I can just tell this series will be amazing. Now that I’ve read the first book (Lincoln’s) I WANT THEM ALL! Especially Thomas!

   photo BAA87D8E-D242-4C01-A716-F11AB397E278_zpslh0rdqwm.jpg

I don’t want to say anything about the story line, because I really loved the way that this one came together. Just as soon as I thought I had it figured out, I didn’t. The twists and turns and connections made the book. Discover them on your own!

Like most of Huss’s reads, this was super steamy, action packed and well written. I’m not sure what to say about our hero Lincoln. Is he really a hero? Not traditionally, but he’s my favorite kind of male lead. The kind that does all the wrong things but for the right reasons.

Lincoln might not be good in all ways, but he’s good in all the ways that count. He’s strong and smart. He’s brave, and protective, and loyal. And that’s the hallmark of a true superhero.

Molly was pretty fantastic in her own right. She was determined, fierce, feisty and strong in her own way. And these secondary characters- Thomas, Atticus and Case- I have to know more about them!

Anarchy Found is a fast paced, unique and thrilling story. Once you start reading this book, you will be hooked. From start to finish. And you’ll want more! I cannot wait to see what is next to come from this series! It’s sure to be a crazy ride!

“You saved yourself. And don’t you ever forget that. You’re the superhero with all the power and I am nothing without you.”

EXCERPT:
Little red lights line the tunnel. It sorta reminds me of an airport runway. The mud turns to concrete about twenty feet in and there’s a small light up ahead. I’m really not sure what to expect, so I get my gun out just in case.
A few paces on and the tunnel turns sharply to the left where the light is brighter. I can hear yelling. Bike boy is yelling.
Someone is talking back to him, but he’s laughing too. I let out my breath and relax a little as I creep forward into the chamber. The first thing I see is the wrecked bike mounted on a red mechanic’s lift. Then toolboxes, some weird contraption that looks like a… robot, rolling around? A computer, then another, and another. A whole wall of computers, actually. Food wrappers and half-empty protein shake containers. Parts. A black muscle car. A long table lined with shit that looks like pieces from a chemistry lab. And a massive aquarium-sized tank holding luminescent jellyfish.
All this time bike boy is yelling and waving those black-gloved hands in the air, splashing a protein drink all over the floor.
“What the fuck, Case? I told you not to mess with my bike, you asshole.”
“I didn’t touch your bike, Lincoln.”
“Stay the fuck out of my business. I crashed the goddamned bike and had to hitch a ride home and Sheila is somehow offline. Offline! You motherfucker!”
“Calm down,” Case says. “She’s not gonna miss anything being offline for a few minutes. In fact, if I were you I’d be asking how it’s possible she got knocked off so easy. Doesn’t that strike you as weird?” It comes from a giant face on a wall-sized flat screen mounted on the side of a… cave? What the fuck? “And you lost your right to work alone months ago, so don’t get all self-righteous about me being around today.”
“What’s that supposed to—“
“Hey, asshole,” the guy on the screen says over bike boy’s tantrum, cutting him off.
“I didn’t need this complication—” Bike boy stops talking. Because the guy on the screen is waggling his eyebrows at me. “What the fuck are you doing?” bike boy asks. “Stop making stupid faces—”
“We have com-pan-eee.” The guy on the giant screen nods his head at me.
Bike boy whirls around, shoots me a dirty look, and then growls, “I’ll call you back,” as the giant screen goes black.
We stare at each other for a few moments, our eyes locked. “Oh, my—”
“You’re still here,” he says over me.
“—God.” I look around one more time.
1. Cave filled with…
2. Super bike.
3. Souped-up muscle car.
4. Giant flatscreen phone chat.
5. Computers everywhere.
6. Robot?
7. Some kind of science lab.
A few loud beeps interrupt my list. “Online,” a female voice says from the ceiling. A pause, and then, “There has been a breach and we have a visitor.” A hologram in the form of a woman appears in the middle of the cave and I can only assume this is…
8. Sheila, apparently back online.
I look around a little more and spy… not a cape, thank God, but a… a…
9. Helicopter, parked at the far end of the enormous cavern.
And then I get the perfect list after all, because I see…
10. Guns.
No, they are more than mere guns. I know my way around a gun and these are—
“What the fuck are you doing here, gun girl? I thought we parted back in the forest.”
“Oh, my God,” I repeat. “You’re Batman.”

Misconduct - Excerpt

His three-piece black pin-striped suit looked crisp and dark against his fair skin, and his white shirt and slate-gray tie shimmered in the glow of the light overhead.

I took a few steps forward. “What are you doing here?” I asked.

His eyes shot down to my feet, and I followed his gaze, remembering that I’d forgotten to put my heels back on.

“Always losing your shoes,” he commented, a smile curling his mouth.

I pursed my lips and turned around, snatching my heels off the seat and slipping them back onto my feet. Grabbing the back of the chair, I pulled it behind me and entered my classroom, knowing he’d follow.

“You came to my workplace unannounced,” he stated behind me. “I thought I would return the favor.”

I replaced my chair behind my desk and looked up, seeing that he had closed the door behind him.

“And?” I prompted.

“And I came to apologize,” he admitted, stopping a few feet in front of my desk. “I’ve been unfair, and I’m sorry. Christian has his phone back, so we’ll see how this goes.”

I stilled, my heart galloping in my chest, and I almost smiled.

Really?

I opened my mouth but had to swallow the lump before I could speak. “Well, that’s great,” I said, surprised. “Thank you.”

I guess I got through to him at his office.

He slid one of his hands into a pocket and narrowed his eyes on me, looking a little surprised.

“You seem very knowledgeable and determined.” His voice sounded genuine. “You’re an impressive woman, Ms. Bradbury, and I should’ve taken the time to understand your methods.”

I kept my shoulders squared, but my eyes dropped, embarrassment warming my cheeks.

“Thank you,” I mumbled, turning around to grab a dry-erase marker to start writing the schedule on the board for when then kids came back on Thursday.

“Christian talks about your class,” he said behind me. “I can tell your teaching interests him, even if he would never admit it.”

I uncapped the marker and rested my hand on the board but didn’t write anything.

“He really can’t stand me, can he?”

I dropped my hand to my side and spun around slowly, surprised by his question.

And feeling terrible all over again. I should never have said that.

No matter how much I thought I knew about him, they were nothing more than assumptions. Who was I to insinuate his son didn’t care for him or vice versa? And what gave me the right to say anything at all in the first place?

He breathed deeply, and for the first time since I’d met him, he looked unsure of himself.

“I was twenty when he was born,” he told me. “That’s no excuse, but it’s the only one I have.”

Twenty.

I was twenty-three, and I couldn’t imagine having a child right now.

I watched him and waited, not wanting to say anything or interrupt because I found I kind of liked it when he talked.

“I know what you think of me.” He looked me dead in the eye and then dropped his gaze, speaking in a voice close to a whisper. “And what he thinks of me.”

And then he let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “I don’t know why I even care what you think. You don’t give a shit about me, but I guess that’s what’s so intriguing.” He moved forward, his soft eyes turning to steel. “You’re so cold and distant,” he charged. “I guess I wouldn’t think anything of it if I hadn’t seen you so different at one time.”

I inhaled a shaky breath, looking down at his right hand. The same one that had held my waist while we danced.

I licked my lips, barely noticing him advance.

“You were flirty and fun.” His voice turned husky, and I looked up, seeing him round my desk slowly. “And you keep pissing me off, but it feels good,” he whispered, playing with me, drawing me in.

I knew that look in his eyes. I may not know much about him, but I knew that look.

And we were in my classroom.

His son’s classroom.

I may have had little shame, but he had none.

“Mr.—”

He cut me off. “Why won’t you ever say my name?”

I shook my head, confused. “Why do you care what I think?”

“I don’t,” he maintained. “I care that you don’t think of me at all.”

I narrowed my eyes on him, clenching my teeth. “That’s not . . .” I trailed off, plastering my back against the whiteboard as he hovered over me.

“That’s not what?” he pressed, his voice sounding strained.

He stood so close that I had only to lift a hand and I could touch him.

“That’s not true,” I finished.

He leaned in. “You look at me like I don’t matter.” His eyes searched mine. “And I don’t like it.”

    I’m dead.
I’m cold and alone and I’m dead. There’s no air in my lungs. My chest is as cold and hollow as a cave on a snow-capped mountain side. My heart no longer beats there. Frigid winds whistle through my ribs and the sadness inside me weeps like my favorite tree.
Days ago, I met with death face to face. The mirror, our meeting place. My two darkened green eyes stared deeply into hers. I tilted my head to the side. She did too.
    “It’s time,” I whispered.
    “It’s time,” she whispered.
And with that I turned away from her, the woman in the mirror who knew all of my secrets and all of my pain. I walked away from her and yet we’d never been closer than we were in that moment. The inner struggle was over. No more arguing with the woman in the mirror. No more arguing with myself. The choice was made. She was the victor. Or was I?
That was the day Riah Winter died.

    CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

    5 stars

       photo 9D91E7EA-70FE-4C01-AFE0-77133B7595C2_zpsysr9v9hb.jpg

Some books you read change you, they move you, they’re powerful and all consuming. This was one of those books for me. I stayed up all night reading it. I read it from cover to cover not stopping once, tears were running down my face most of the time but I couldn't stop. Any one who has suffered from depression or had someone they love suffer from depression can relate to Riah and her story. It’s not an easy story to read, in fact, it was incredibly difficult for me to read, but it’s worth it.

       photo 87D1815B-135A-40D3-95F5-56B220CE499D_zpsraf8bi7f.jpg

Riah is severely depressed. So depressed that living doesn’t seem like an option for her anymore. She can’t pull it together. Not for her kids, not for her husband, and not for herself. Her marriage that used to be so full of love and desire has dwindled away since the depression came in full force. Her husband, Grayson, loves her- but he doesn’t understand her. No one understands how Riah feels. More often than not, Riah doesn’t understand how she feels.

There’s so much loss between us it’s almost as if we’ve built a graveyard with all the pieces of what was once our marriage. So much is gone and buried.

       photo 0C54736F-DAB3-4FD8-BC11-838440FEA5C7_zpsytes8y7w.jpg

The true murderer of our love was life. We stopped living in our love and started dying in the mundane aspects of every day life.

I wasn’t sure I would, but I connected so strongly to parts of Riah. I don’t want to talk too much about her story or her journey, because I want you to experience it yourself. Think about it. It will make you think about your life, about your choices, about the struggles you have and others have.

“Regret is a painful thing. Few people understand that there are three important things that leave us and can never return. Words. Time. Opportunity. These are things we can never get back.”

This story is stunning, emotional, and heartbreaking. It devastated me. It’s one of those books that makes you think and feel. Kathryn’s writing is beautiful, it’s poetic and it’s brave. This story is epic. Putting a story like this out there couldn’t have been easy, but I’m so glad Perez decided to do it. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read. If you’re looking to read an unconventional story that’s heart wrenching, real and exceptional, this is one I very highly recommend.
