Review: Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey

Rosie and Dominic Vega are the perfect couple: high school sweethearts, best friends, madly in love. Well, they used to be anyway. Now Rosie’s lucky to get a caveman grunt from the ex-soldier every time she walks in the door. Dom is faithful and a great provider, but the man she fell in love with ten years ago is nowhere to be found. When her girlfriends encourage Rosie to demand more out of life and pursue her dream of opening a restaurant, she decides to demand more out of love, too. Three words: marriage boot camp.

Never in a million years did Rosie believe her stoic, too-manly-to-emote husband would actually agree to relationship rehab with a weed-smoking hippy. Dom talking about feelings? Sitting on pillows? Communing with nature? Learning love languages? Nope. But to her surprise, he’s all in, and it forces her to admit her own role in their cracked foundation. As they complete one ridiculous—yet surprisingly helpful—assignment after another, their remodeled relationship gets stronger than ever. Except just as they’re getting back on track, Rosie discovers Dom has a secret... and it could demolish everything.

If there was anything in this world worth fighting for, it was his wife.
Love Her or Lose Her is the second book in Tessa Bailey's 'Hot and Hammered' series. After reading and loving 'Fix Her Up' I was so excited for this one. It wasn't as fun or endearing, but I actually loved the romance more. Maybe it's the old married person in me, but sometimes I love reading about already established/married couples and this hit the spot for me.

Dominic and Rosie were high school sweethearts who married one another. They've always been so in love and had a great relationship, but lately things have changed. I wouldn't say they've lost their spark... their chemistry is still there. But that seems like that's all that's there. They don't talk anymore, they don't spend time together (outside of their Tuesday night bedroom date) and Rosie has had enough. She decides they need some real help if they're going to make it work, so she moves out while they undergo some 'extreme marriage therapy', which is unconventional but a hoot.

Dom is a great guy. He loves Rosie something fierce and always provides for her, but with their sessions they both realize they aren't doing the right things for one another. Some people show love in different ways, and some people need love shown to them in different ways. It was the breakthrough they needed. I think this will be so relatable for some people. If you've been in a long-term relationship/and or are married especially.

Dominic is the type of hero Tessa Bailey loves to write. Alpha, stoic, sexy, and protective. This would have maybe been a 4.5 or 5 star read for me if I felt more connected to him. I feel like the biggest part of his character was his proving himself and providing for Rosie. Rosie had all these dreams and all he wanted was to be there for her and help her succeed. I guess I wanted a little more of what he wanted, and to be in his head a bit more. I think my favorite part of the book was watching Rosie come to terms with the fact that she had some blame in this and trying to do for Dom what he'd always done for her. I loved watching them love each other in the way they both needed.

“You love me fiercely and quietly—you always have—and you’ve started loving me out loud these last few weeks."

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was emotional, steamy, and made me laugh more than once. I enjoy Tessa Bailey's writing and characters and I'm loving this series. I have a feeling Bethany and Wes's book is next and I'm so here for it!

REVIEW: FIx Her Up by Tessa Bailey

Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi, leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)

Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they haven’t taken her seriously since.  Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World... whatever that means.

Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite?

Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there's Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

TESSA BAILEY is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention. She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

CHRISTY'S REVIEW:

4.5 stars

I love the illustrated cover trend, but I have to start this review by saying that the cover of Fix Her Up doesn’t quite match the story. I thought I was jumping into an uber cute rom-com, and though this did have some cute and fun moments, it was a bit emotional and a crazy hot brothers best friend story.

Georgie Castle is the youngest sibling and is never taken seriously. It doesn’t help her cause that she’s not in the family business, but instead is a professional clown (yes, you read that right). She loves kids and it’s her passion but it makes her family take her less seriously than they already do.

Travis Ford is Gerogie’s long time crush and her brother’s best friend. He is a former MBA player who is home after an injury got him out of the game. He’s a bit depressed about it and needs someone just like Georgie to get him out of the funk he’s in. Georgie does exactly that. And while doing that, she finds herself a little along the way.

I loved watching Georgie come into her own and start to believe in herself. That was my favorite part of the book. It wasn’t about her appearance changing some or her new clothing etc, it was about her finally feeling comfortable in her own skin. I also loved the ‘Just Us League’ and I’m dying for Rosie and Bethany’s books! I’m sure they’ll be just as great as this one was!

This started out with a girl with a long time crush. It turned into a friendship. Then the fake dating came to play. And then… then… the crazy hot sexy times. Then the falling in love. Travis started to see himself through Georgies eyes and develop more self worth as well. It was a beautiful thing.

I loved both Georgie and Travis. Georgie especially was so fun and sweet. Her personality made her so darn lovable. Travis is an alpha male, but in a good way. He started out a little rough for me, but I grew to really love his character. And every time he called Georgie baby girl I melted a little.

If you’re a fan of brother’s best friend books, the fake dating troupe, or your just looking for a hella hot and feel good romance, pick up Fix Her Up. This is probably my favorite Tessa Bailey book I’ve read to date!!

Crashed Out by Tessa Bailey

Jasmine
Taveras is the reason Sarge Purcell grabbed his six-string and bailed the hell
out of New Jersey four years ago. She's the fuel for every song he's ever
written—each one laced with bitter, hard-edged, hungry lust. Now, with
his hugely successful band on temporary hiatus, Sarge is determined to prove to
Jasmine that this “kid” turned into every inch the man she's always needed...

Men
are slim pickings for a single factory girl in Hook, New Jersey…until tall,
broad-shouldered hotness walks—or rather storms—into Jasmine's life.
Sarge's return shouldn't affect her this way. He's her best friend's much
younger kid brother, and the kind of rough, gritty, sexiness Jasmine has no
right to taste for herself. Even if he lets her.

But lust is a blinding,
insatiable force. And when it crashes, it will take both Sarge and Jasmine down
with it...

Crashed Out (Made in Jersey, #1)Crashed Out by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 dirty talking Sarge stars!!

Holy shit. That pretty much sums it up. This book is fucking hot! Tessa Bailey know how to write a dirty talking alpha male. And I love the story line, a younger male going after a older female. And he goes for Jasmine with everything he has!!

I felt like there was some brutal foreplay for Sarge until FINALLY FINALLY, he got what he waited so long for. And that first time it was like an explosion went off. HOLY SHIT! It was soooo damn hot. Everyone needs to read this book. I have a feeling girls will be wanting more of Sarge! Hell, I'm a groupie now!

If you are looking for a short, steamy & dirty talking read.....look no further.

His to Take by Katee Robert

Erin Robinson is having an epically bad year. Her blossoming career on Broadway tanked, forcing her to crawl back to home to Wellington. The icing on her failure cake? Her former on-again, off-again fling is in town, and the sexy Marine is taking up way too much space.

Warren Davis always knew Erin was special, which is exactly why he can’t have her. A girl like her deserves something permanent—something neither of them wants. But now that they’re both back in town and she’s right there in front of him, a challenge in her eyes he’s never been able to resist, he’s questioning everything.

That challenge quickly escalates into an epic game of Truth or Dare. Erin’s sure she’s got him on lock, but as the night progresses, Warren’s dares intensify, drowning her in lust. But with the past still breathing down their necks, there’s no way either of them can win…

His to Take (Out of Uniform, #3.5)His to Take by Katee Robert
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 saucy stars!

His to Take packed one hell of a punch! This book is steamy right from the start!! This novella is only about 80 pages long and it transpires over one night. That is my only dislike, and it's not even a dislike considering I just needed more of the writing. I needed more of their background to get a 'feel' for them as a couple. Other than that I loved the writing and the amazing sex scenes.

Say You're Mine (Shillings Agency, #5)Say You're Mine by Diane Alberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Say You're mine stars!!

Steven and Lauren.....oh my! I just loved this friends to lovers book! The writing was fantastic, the characters were fabulous and the sex was HOT! This is the 5th book in the series and I do believe I may have to go back and read books 1-4 now!! As you can tell each book is a stand alone, it's different characters in each book.

Steven was amazing!! His words made me melt on several occasions. And then sometimes his words made my panties melt. (Hehe) If you love the friends to lovers trope then this is your book!
