Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood’s Perfect Husband is now Hollywood’s Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town. Summer Jenkins. That’s me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplins, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year. We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn’t have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him. From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me. Sometimes, opposites just aren’t meant to attract..

Reviews
Bella's Review: 4.5 Cocky Stars!!
Alessandra Torre is one of my all time favorite authors. I will forever read all of her future books without even reading the blurb first. And I didn't read the blurb with this book either. I have come to expect great writing, hella hot sex scenes and twists and turns in a suspenseful plot.

Hollywood Dirt is slightly different from the other books by this author - that is one of the other things I like about Alessandra Torre - her books are all different from each other. I sooo sooo appreciate this, especially when you read as much as I do.

What I loved about this book:
~ The writing. Her writing is so easy for me to read.

~ Strong heroine. Summer is an awesome female lead. I loved it that she had a spine, didn't let anyone walk all over her. She was feisty. She was a regular girl, living in a town that had turned against her. I admired her for staying in that town with her mom, for continuing with normal life after bubble had been burst by her ex-finace. She is strong and proud. I LOVED the rehearsal dinner prank she pulled (although I didn't love that it was foreshadowed a bunch of times and only explained towards the end of the book).

~ Cole. OMG. He was a great male lead too. He is the movie actor millionaire. He is dealing with a divorce that really hurt him, but trying not to act like it hurts. Hollywood is a world where you don't show your true self because it makes you more vulnerable. So he acts like a jerk and is accustomed to always getting his way.

~ The chemistry. OMG. The chemistry between Cole and Summer is off the charts hot. Cole is an asshole and Summer won't take his crap. She puts him in his place with her southern ways and he .... likes it. He likes her fire. The fact that she doesn't just roll over and pant for him is quite a different reaction than he is used to getting from other women and so she stands out from the crowd.

They hate each other.

But they are affected by each other. She gets under his skin. He gets under hers.

And when they get together, the anticipation, the passion, the sparks are off the charts!!!

~ Guest appearance - you get to see a character or two from one of Alessandra Torre's other books - I loved this little treat!!!

~ Alternating POV - Summer's POV is told in first person, Cole's POV was told in the third person - this is kind of ... weird. I would have preferred to have both POV's told from the first person, but I'm so glad we got both perspectives. I loved being in Cole's head!!

Why not 5 stars?
This book was phenomenal - it had a bit of a slow start, but once it sucked me in, I couldn't stop reading. It had me laughing out loud and had my heart pumping.

But.

I missed that super surprise plot twist that I never saw coming that is trademark Alessandra Torre.

This was more...predictable than I'm used to from this author. She has set the bar so high with her previous books that I was waiting for something...more. I looked down and saw that I was already 85% and I was like - how is she going to work in the super-duper-amazingly-brilliant plot twist that I never saw coming??? And it didn't happen.

But everything that did happen was brilliant.

Even Cocky! (loved that part!)

My Highlights:

"For him, flirtation was nothing, a country girl finding him attractive normal. For me? Falling for the unattainable Cole Masten might just break all of my bones upon impact."

"It's eight in the morning," he mumbled.
"I'm well aware of that. And my wife has already come three times so far this morning, so get your ass out of bed and be productive." (teehee! loved this one)

Bottom line: read this book!! It's romantic. It's witty. It's funny. It's hot!!

Highly recommend!!!

We are strong. We are Southern. We have secrets you will never imagine.

Hollywood Dirt is not the type of read I’ve come to expect from Alessandra. After reading most of her books, I can say that this is far different from all the rest but equally as good. I was in the mood for something lighter, sweeter, with a strong heroine and wonderful hero and that is exactly what she delivered. Hollywood Dirt is a feel good romance about two people who started off hating each other and ended up falling hard for one another.

Summer Jenkins has lived in small town Quincy most of her life. Quincy is full of southern people who have money but don’t like to talk about it. Summer isn’t from one of those families that have money. She and her mom are working class. As much as she loves her mom and she loves Quincy in some ways, she is dying to escape- to get out of the town that held such unpleasant memories for her. To start fresh.

Cole Matsen has a passion for the film he’s starring in. A true to life tale about the Coca-Cola fortune in Quincy. Cole is professionally ready for the role of a life time, but his personal life isn’t going so well. After catching his wife of 5 years cheating, he’s in the process of a divorce. Love is the last thing he’s looking for. In fact, until his divorce is final, he’s been advised by his attorney (sigh) to stay away from all women.

When Cole first arrives at Quincy, he meets this spitfire named Summer. The only thing he can think about is she would be perfect for his film. She would bring a level of authenticity to the role that no one else could give it. Summer isn’t interested in being a star, she’s not interested in Cole, either… but being in this film could be her ticket out, so she takes it.

I loved the back and forth between Cole and Summer. Their banter was great and you could just feel the tension between them.

These two characters were fantastic together. They tried so hard to fight the way they were feeling, but they could only fight it for so long. Both of them had a fun and feisty attitude and I loved them both together.

Alessandra did a great job giving Quincy a realistic small town feel. And let me tell about Cocky the rooster. Every scene between Cole and Cocky left me with the biggest grin on my face. There wasn’t much I didn’t love about this book. It was overall a wonderful read.

Hollywood Dirt is a small town romance with tons of heart. It had laughs, the right amount of steam, and was an all around sweet and fun read. If you’re looking for a book that will keep a smile on your face and leave you with a happy feeling in your heart, pick this one up!

EXCERPT:

When the door to the production trailer burst open, it brought with it a wave of heat and beauty. Cole looked up from the storyboards and locked eyes with Summer, who blew across the room at him like a tornado on tilt.

“There’s no love story between Ida and Royce.” Summer snapped, throwing down the script, pages fluttering down between them. In the small trailer, conversations stalled and he could feel the attention turn their way. “I’ve read the book. Three times!”

It was good to know that someone had read the damn book. Cole glanced down at her temper tantrum of a mess and back up, raising his eyebrows mildly. “It’s a movie,” he said, turning back to the storyboards. “The writers are adding some excitement. It’s normal. You’d know that if you were in this business.” The dig was unnecessary but he couldn’t help it. This woman turned him into the devil.

“I read the first script. The one you sent over with my contract. Ida and Royce hated each other. Why would Royce…” she snatched up a page from the ground and read out a line. “pushes Ida against the file cabinet and kisses her passionately.” She balled up the page and threw it down to the ground and he could see, in her eyes, the panic. Panic. An unexpected reaction.

“We’ll use that,” Don made the dangerous move of stepping in, putting a soft hand on her shoulder. “You don’t understand. The passion from their hatred will make it hotter.”

“No.” Summer said, her face hard, her eyes on Cole. “It doesn’t make it hotter. It makes it stupid.”

“Aww… come on, Summer.” Cole chided, stepping closer, his hand reaching out to pull at her wrist. She fought him, yanking it back and the moment of their bodies meeting didn’t happen. He leaned down and whispered, right against her ear, the smell of her apple-scented lotion enough to make him want to empty out the production trailer right that moment. “Sure it does.”

She jerked back and twisted away. “If he kisses me on camera I’m going to lose it.” She shot at Don, pointing an accusatory finger in Cole’s direction.

“I know you will,” Cole laughed, crossing his arms to fight from reaching out.  “You’ll fall apart under my mouth, baby.”

Summer screamed in response, her hands thrown up in frustration, and spun to leave, her script left behind, the slam of the exit door loud in the full production trailer.

“That went well,” Cole mused. He linked his hands and rested them on his head, rolling his shoulders back. Panic. She’d had panic in her eyes. Fuck.

“What do you expect?” Don said. “You threw this on her without warning. I told you we should have met with her this morning, gone over the changes to prepare her. But no – you just wanted to dump it on her via call sheets and sides.”

“Dump it on her? I was People’s Sexiest Man last year. She’s not mentally adjusting to a war camp for God’s sake. How hard is it to kiss me?”

“It’s actually three kisses,” a dark-haired PA to his left pointed out. “And a grope.”

He gave her a hard look and she withered a little.

“I’ll go talk to her,” Don said. “Eileen, you shoot #4 and I’ll talk to Summer. I want to try to get #14 shot at eleven so let’s get our asses in gear and get this done.”

“I’ll talk to her.” Cole stepped in. “You shoot #4 and I’ll talk to her.”

“No,” Don snapped. “With my luck you two would make up and any authenticity to the scene would disappear. Just stay away from her and be ready at eleven.”

Cole chewed on his cheek, then nodded. “Fine.” Don was right. He should stay away from her. Far. Far away.
