A Review: Ten Thousand Words by Kelli Jean

Christy's 4.5 star review!

Ten Thousand Words is my first Kelli Jean book, but I know I’ll be reading more by this author in the future! I really enjoyed this one. Jean's writing is fantastic and I loved that Xanthe and Oliver’s love story wasn’t the same old same old. It’s a beautiful love story between an author who is unique and quirky and a gorgeous bearded photographer/model. The pair starts out as an unlikely couple, but they couldn’t be more right for one another.

I loved this couple together. I loved the way they met and the way their relationship progressed. Was it perfect? No. There was a little angst and a little drama, but nothing over the top. Ollie is one of those guys that could be a jerk at times, but then he’d say or do something so incredibly swoony, you couldn’t help but to completely adore him.

A picture is worth a thousand words

“When I’m able to sleep, I dream of you. I think of… everything- you’re smile, your laughter, the way you make me feel so blessed just to be allowed to know you.”

I think the best part of this story was watching the growth in both characters. The love from their counterpart made them both change for the better. Ollie seemed to bring Xanthe out of her shell some and showed her how truly beautiful she was. Xanthe changed Ollie’s initial perspective on people. No more judging people by the way they look or act, he gets to know them first.

There are a truly interesting and fantastic bunch of side characters in this book. All of Xanthe’s friends, Ollie’s BFF Trey and of course, Aunt Ellen made this book so much fun. This is a stand alone, but I really hope more books come along with some of these side characters. I need to know more about… what’s going on with them. Speaking of that, I thought that the little bit of mystery and the twists were great. It left me wanting more, that’s for sure!

If you’re looking for an original romance that has humor, steam, friendship, love and the best kinds of twists and turns, this is one I would recommend. Kelli Jean’s writing is fresh and impressive. I’m looking forward to reading more by her!

Karaline's 5 star review:

I loved this book! I got the paperback in the mail from Atria - I thought... "Can CoHo bring her A game again?" I was a nervous nelly. I sent my boys out for the day - Mama needed alone book time. I did not read anything about this book before I started it. I never read blurbs if I can help it. I very much enjoy reading a book with a clean slate in my mind. So I cracked it and I read the first page... and I was, how do you say, HOOK LINE AND SINKER. I devoured every page! I loved all the words. I loved the brilliance of it. The little snippets of brilliance Colleen managed in the pages. She made me angry, and made me laugh right after. She made me cry, OH LORD DID I CRY! and she made me cheer. I sent my babes texts after texts telling them I wanted to talk to SOMEONE about this damn books -I had to wait weeks!!!
**Luckily my husband lent me his ear**

Ms Hoover did bring it & she brought it huge. I finally got to talk to Foxy about this book and we chatted and chatted on how to review this... how do you review a book that you want the world to experience without ever saying one iota about it?
Well, I suppose you just tease them with an epic picture like I did. LOL **my B2B group knows all about my epic picture I taunted them with! hahahaha. It still makes me laugh.

So, yeah... big HIGH FIVE to CoHo.
Thank you for bringing the feels to me and making me LOVE the story you shared with us.
XOXOXOX

There is nothing quite like a Colleen Hoover book. She is one of those authors that leaves a stamp on her work. Her plots seem to have this special twist, her story lines are always unique and her characters are witty, wonderful and flawed. When I read November 9 I expected greatness. This is a CoHo book. And I wasn't disappointed.

November 9 is a day on the calendar. One day out of 365. It’s a day that I’ve never really thought about, but from now on, I don’t think this date will pass without me thinking of Ben, Fallon, and their story. When I read the blurb for this book, I was intrigued. At first I thought- such a cool idea. Then I thought, how is this going to work?

This is a book that put me through the ringer. My emotions were all over the place. It made me feel. It made me stay up all night reading. There were points I was sad, points i was angry (it’s been a while since I’ve been this upset at a character…. still not over it LOL), and points my heart was bursting full. I want to talk about the story, but I can’t talk about the story. It’s one of those you don’t want to know to much about. Be surprised and let the emotions consume you.

November 9 is the perfect mix of humor, twists and turns, love, angst and it has that Colleen Hoover stamp that is unmistakable. You will laugh, you will cry, if you’re like me, you might be so full of frustration that you want to throw your kindle a time or two, but by the ending, you’re left with an unforgettable story that is real, raw and riveting.

p.s. there were some fantastic and fun bookisms in this story and every single one of them put a smile on my face!

Review: Sacked by @JenSFred (Jen Frederick)

Sacked Sacked by Jen Frederick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 'Sacked' stars!

Let me start off by saying I don't watch football....EVER. But I enjoy reading the sports romance. And I fell in live with this one. Knox Masters name is going to become well know as a new 'book boyfriend' <-------yes I know some hate that term but you know what? It fits. We all have our favorites and Knox is going on my favorites list.

Here's why. He's a 21 year old virgin waiting on 'the one' how many 21 year old college FOOTBALL STARS can say that?! And yes he's very hot and has had many offers. I'm sighing here ladies. And swooning. I swooned so many damn times while reading Sacked. THE BOOKSTORE KISS!! THE BATHROOM SCENE.....that scene was SUPER HOT!

Some of my favorite quotes...

"You want to play it casual, then that's how we play it...for now. But fair warning, I'm bringing everything I've got to tear down your resistance. My specialty is reading plays and then overcoming the barriers."

^^SWOON

"We don't get to pick the family we're born into," he says into the quiet night. "But we do get to choose the family we live with. I choose you. You're all that I'll ever want."

^^DOUBLE SWOON.
