This duet completely blew me away. I don’t even know what to say about these books, but I guess READ THEM is a good place to start! Seriously- you need to read these books!!!
The Darkest Sunrise left us with one heck of a cliffhanger, and I wasn’t sure how this book was going to go. Honestly, I had no idea how Aly would make this all okay. I was so nervous starting this book. What both of these characters have been through now… I can’t even imagine it.
Maybe he was right. We’d been through hell. If ever there were two people who deserved a happily-ever-after, it was us.
This story gave me so many feels. Both of these books. The first book, I bawled like a baby. This book, I teared up a few times, but it wasn’t as emotional in a way that made me cry. It was heart wrenching in other ways, though. My poor Porter. He’s an incredible character through this book. Even during the times most people would have fallen apart, he somehow managed to keep it together. He and Charlotte were there for each other in their times of need. They had each others backs even when it seemed impossible and I loved that about them.
When I broke, Porter was there to pick up the pieces. And, when Porter lost sight of the light, I was there to hold him in the darkness. No questions. No judgments. No faking it. No apologies.
This story had such a tragic start, I didn’t know how these characters could overcome, but they did. They persevered, they healed, and out of the darkness came light. The Brightest Sunset, along with The Darkest Sunrise are top favorites of mine this year. If you’re looking for a read full of emotion, heart, and healing, pick these up! You don’t want to miss this beautiful story!
