PROLOGUE

I was mad at the world, at the whiskey for not being strong enough, at the drugs for not lasting long enough, at the fucking whores I banged for not getting me off when it was my fault my dick was fucking useless after a bucket of fucking blow. I went so far as to be pissed at random people on the street for laughing or smiling when I felt like I’d never be able to smile or laugh again.

How dare they?

How fucking dare they be move on with their lives like my friend hadn’t just died.

I was on the verge of losing what little sanity I had left when I rode out of Logan's Beach and set off to find a place, or places, where I could numb myself against the feelings that followed me from town to town, cheap motel to cheap motel, girl to girl, high to fucking high.

Then, this pink haired girl from the past came barreling into my life and it was like for the first time, I’d found a purpose. A real genuine purpose and not just some shit Chop spewed out as orders that I and every other member of the Beach Bastards took as bible, but a true reason to live again.

To WANT to live again.

Someone to live for.

Ti was my chance at some sort of real happiness when Lord fucking knows I had no idea what that really was before her. The only glimpses of real genuine happiness I'd ever had came courtesy of Preppy, King, and of course Grace. Like when King tattooed us for the first time and we loved them, even though they were crooked and downright fucking awful. Like when Grace made me my very first birthday cake. Like the time King Prep and I sat at the top of the water tower and thought the world was ours to take.

Because at that time, it was.

Then there was Ti and my new happiness became the first time I saw her smile. The first time I kissed her. The first time I tasted her pussy by the fire. The first time she let me inside of her, shamelessly pushing through her virginity in a frantic need to make her mine.

Because that's what she was.

That's what she would always be.

And I will kill every motherfucker who dares to try and take her from me.

Mine.

Review: 4.5 stars!

Whew. What a fucking ride!! When I finished Lawless I sat with my jaw on the floor. I kept thinking "How dare she do that to me?!" I kept screaming NO JAKE NO!!

So when I started Soulless I was surprised to see it starting with Thia being perfectly fine. And we didn't get to that point in the book until almost the very end. Very cruel, you evil ginger. But it kept me on my toes waiting for shit to hit the fan. And boy did it ever.

T.M. Frazier is an auto buy author for me. Her writing is brilliant, and always manages to suck me into the story. The ending of Soulless through me for a loop. I'm a little confused on some aspects but I'm going to hold off judgement until we get THAT book. Because I'm sure with her genius ways she will make me BELIEVE. So go on  and grab Soulless and be ready to take a wild ass ride!!

AP- Excerpt

He holds my eyes, not letting them wander away from him. “Why have you been avoiding me?”

I wander my room, not sure where to go now that he’s here. I’m not sure where I fit now. I’m not sure where I belong in his life.

“You know why,” I say quietly.

“I want to hear you tell me.”

“Why?”

“So I can change your mind.” His hands slide into his front pockets, and the sunlight catches on his dad’s watch and casts golden beams through the room. It lights up like someone just lit a million candles at once. “I can’t do that unless I know exactly why you don’t want to see me.”

He wants a reason? I’ll give him a whole list of them.

“Because I don’t want to drag you into my mess of a world any more than I already have. Because I don’t want to smear you through the mud on the media’s march to burying me. Because I don’t want to hurt you—again—and because I want to protect you.”

“I can protect myself from them.”

I shake my head and cover my chest with my hand. “To protect you from me.”

Torrin’s jaw hardens. He works it loose the moment after. “I don’t need protection from you.”

“Everyone needs protection from me. There’s something dark in me now, Torrin, and I can’t get it out. It’s growing, spreading, and I don’t want it to infect the people I love.”

He pushes off the closet doors and crosses the room before I know he’s coming. “There is nothing dark in you, Jade. Nothing.” He backs me into the wall and stares at me, unblinking. “There is light and good in you. There always has been. There always will be.”

“That’s gone. He took it from me.”

“No, he didn’t.” Torrin’s hand slams into the wall beside my head. “It’s still there. You had to bury it to keep it safe, but it’s still there. You’ll find it. I know it.”

I want to believe him, but that doesn’t make it true. “You can’t find what isn’t there, Torrin.”

“Dammit, stop talking like that,” he says, his jaw tensing. “It’s there. I know it.”

“I’ve tried. I can’t find it.” Even as I say it, I start to feel different. It’s because of him being so close, saying what he is in the way he is. He’s the tether that keeps me from floating away.

His eyes lower to mine. “I’ll help you find it.”

I feel my heart again. My lungs. Everything else. I feel it waking up. “What makes you so sure you can find it?”

“Because when I look in your eyes, I still see it.” His other hand fits against the wall beside my head. “Because when I’m close to you like this, I can still feel it.” He leans a little closer, and I feel something too. “It’s there, Jade. It’s not gone. He took ten years of your life—ten years.” The corners of his eyes crease as an emotion fires in his eyes. “Don’t hand him the rest of it by believing that kind of shit.”

Short-tempered, arrogant heart surgeon Jason Garcia grew up wanting a close-knit family, but believes he ruined those dreams when he broke up his marriage. The benefit of divorce is having as much random sex as he wants, and it's a benefit Jason is exploiting when he meets a sweet, shy man at a bar and convinces him to go home for a no-strings-attached night of fun.
Eight years living in Las Vegas hasn't dimmed Abe Green's optimism, earnestness, or desire to find the one. When a sexy man with lonely eyes propositions him, Abe decides to give himself a birthday present - one night of spontaneous fun with no thoughts of the future. But one night turns into two and then three, and Abe realizes his heart is involved.
For the first time, Abe feels safe enough with someone he respects and adores to let go of his inhibitions in the bedroom. If Jason can get past his own inhibitions and open his heart and his life to Abe, he might finally find the family he craves.

Bella's Review: 4 Stars
Abe and Jason.

These two have amazing chemistry. But what starts as a one night stand turns into something more.

Abe is a relationship kind of guy. He doesn't really do one night stands. But on his birthday, he gives in to temptation and has sex with Jason.

Jason is a serial one night stand-er. He was married to a woman and has 2 teenagers. He is a surgeon and is so busy he has no time for a relationship. But when he bumps into Abe again, he can't help but want him again.

I love their explosive chemistry and how the physical aspect of their relationship slowly progresses into a great relationship.

Abe really stole the show for me. Jason was at times a bit of a douchebag. He was so clueless about a couple of things I wanted to reach into the book and bang a pan over his head to wake him up!!

But I did like how Abe became a part of Jason's family. I like how he dealt with this kids.

Definitely an easy, sexy low angst read.

Audiobook had great narration!!

Aggressive, physical, and brave, Jake Owens is a small town football hero turned big city cop who passes his time with meaningless encounters believing he can't have who he really wants: Nate Richardson, his best friend since before forever. Thoughtful, quiet, and kind, Nate is a brilliant doctor who has always known who he is and has never been able to shake his crush on loyal, courageous, straight Jake.
After a passionate night together, Nate realizes Jake isn't as straight as he assumed, but he worries that what they shared was a fluke, a result of too much closeness for too long. For Jake, the question isn't how they ended up in bed together because he has always known that Nate holds his heart; it's how he'll convince Nate that he wants and needs to stay there.

Bella's Review: 3.5 Stars

Nate and Jake - These guys are just incredible together. Their moms were best friends and they were raised together so this is definitely a friends to lovers story.

What I loved:
- Jake never once felt ashamed or doubted his love for Nate. He would do anything for him.
- These two have some smoking hot chemistry.
- Very sweet love story.
- Alternating POV - my favorite way to read a story.

What I didn't like:
- With the alternating POV, each scene was told, twice - once from Nate's POV, then from Jake's POV. This got so repetitive. Drove me CRAZY. The story could have been cut in half.
- There was so much sex. Don't get me wrong, I like a sexy story. But there was just so. much. sex.
So.
Much.
Sex.
Dare I say, too much. Even for erotica. After a while, I started to skim the sex, it was that much.
- Misunderstandings galore. Assumptions and misunderstandings were the cause of the angst - once the characters started openly communicating, they were both on the same page. With those misunderstandings I just want to reach into the story and slap them silly!

Bottom line, I loved reading about Jake and Nate. They were soul-mates and made SUCH a great couple.

Blog Tour: 5+++ stars for One Day Soon by A. Meredith Walters!

He found me in blood and tears.
I stayed with him through darkness and fire.
We loved each other in the moment between innocence and bitter truth.
We were the kids easily ignored, who grew into adults we hardly knew.
We weren’t meant to last forever. And we didn’t.
He ran away.
I tried to move on.
Yet I never stopped thinking about the boy who had fought to keep me alive in a world that would have swallowed me whole. He was the past that I buried, but never forgot.
Until the day I found him again, years after believing I had lost him forever.
And in cold, resentful eyes, I saw the heart of the man who had been everything when I had nothing at all. So I vowed to hold onto the second chance that was stolen from the children we had been.
Sometimes fate is ugly. Life can be twisted.
And who we are can be ruined by who we once were.
For two people who had survived so much, we would have to learn how to hold on before we were forced to let go.

“A happy story doesn’t always have a happy ending.”

I can say with absolute certainty that One Day Soon is the best book I have read this year. And it’s quite possibly made my top 10 favorite books of all time list. Yes. This book was THAT BOOK. I’m having trouble even imagining a book topping it right now. I can’t even express all that I’m feeling after I’ve finished this book, or all I felt while reading. I literally cried almost the entire time I was reading. Sad tears, happy tears, just all kinds of tears! I’m not sure how to write a review that can convey my love for this book, but I’m going to try!

As a teenage girl, Imogen meets a guy named Yoss who changes her life forever. Yoss is unlike anyone else she’s ever met. They become friends first, and then develop feelings for one another. They are inseparable and Imi doesn’t think anything could ever change that. But fate had other plans for Imi and Yoss.

Sometimes fate is ugly. Life can be twisted. And who we are can be ruined by who we once were. For two people who had survived so much, we would have to learn how to hold on before we were forced to let go.

Now, fifteen years have passed. Imi hasn’t seen Yoss in all that time, and suddenly, he is back in her life in a way she never expected.

   photo 542FF11F-1754-4C9E-8ED4-1527006F7D60_zpstagaxcgt.jpg

“Sometimes you make good choices. Sometimes you make bad ones. But they’re all made for a reason that seems to make sense at that time.”

To Imi, it doesn’t matter where Yoss is in his life. He is still Yoss. Her Yoss. The boy who protected her and gave her everything she needed. Her first and only true love. Yoss has lived a hard life these last fifteen years, but in her heart, that changed nothing. Because Yoss was still everything to her.

Yossarian Frazier wasn’t an overly complicated person. He was smart. He was thoughtful. He was generous and kind. He was loyal to a fault. And he was someone who had been forced to make choices that would shatter some people.

I loved the past. I loved the present. Imi and Yoss were everything. Both of them. I completely adored both of them.

This book gave me more ‘feels’ than any book I’ve read in a long time. I will never forget this story. I will never forget these characters. It’s been a few days since I’ve read it and I can’t get it off my mind. That last bit of the story… I can’t even. My heart was jumping out of my chest. I can’t even put into words how it made me feel. I just want everyone I know to read this book! I’ve not only been recommending it to everyone in the book world, I’ve been telling random people who don’t even read about it (my mom, aunt, coworkers etc.) in hopes that maybe they will decide to pick it up because it’s THAT GOOD!

One Day Soon is one of those unforgettable reads. It’s powerful, moving, heart-wrenching and truly beautiful. I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s straight at the top of my favorites list. If you haven’t read this book, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pick it up! You won’t regret it ;)

5+ star favorite.

EXCERPT

Yossarian Frazier wasn’t an overly complicated person. He was smart. He was thoughtful. He was generous and kind. He was loyal to a fault.

And he was someone who had been forced to make choices that would shatter most people. I could see the fragments being chipped away little by little as he struggled to hold on.

Yet he still sat beside me, with concern on his face, wanting to know if was all right. When it was obvious he wasn’t.

So I wouldn’t add my baggage to his overburdened shoulders. I couldn’t do that to him.

“I’m fine. Just wanted some alone time. It was getting a little loud over there,” I said with as sincere a smile as I could muster.

Yoss glanced over my shoulder towards where his friends were hanging out and nodded. “I get that.”

We both stared up into the sky—red, orange, purple, vibrant, violent colors.

“Did you ever read fairytales as a kid?” I asked him suddenly.

Yoss frowned and gave me an amused smile. His too red lips stretching uncomfortably. “Yeah, I guess so. Why?”

I shrugged. “I always liked the idea of a happily ever after. That no matter what horrible things happened to people, everything ended up exactly how it should. With the perfect kiss. The fancy wedding. The evil stepsisters being forced to work as maids in the castle.” I laughed self-consciously. “I think maybe now more than any other time in my life, I could use a fairytale ending.”

I startled at the feel of Yoss’s hand on mine. He carefully, so gently, laced our fingers together.

Palm to palm.

“Tell me a story then, Imi. I want to hear a happy ending.”

A happy ending.

What did one of those even look like?
I continued to stare into the sky and I felt something inside of me shift.

With Yoss’s hand in mine I knew something with a certainty that came with being young and crazy about a boy who was crazy about me.

My happy ending was Yoss.

Yoss’s happy ending was me.

So I gave him the story I wished we had. The one that was full of fantasy. Improbable. Unrealistic. But there was truth in it as well.

The best kind.

“Once upon a time there was a girl from a happy family. She was loved and adored and never wanted for anything. She spent her days surrounded by friends and family. She smiled all the time, never having a reason to cry.” Yoss squeezed my hand and I took a deep breath.

“One day she met a boy who was just as happy. And together they realized how wonderful life could be. He wanted to take care of her. She wanted to stay by his side.” Yoss rested his chin on top of my head, and I leaned into him.

So close.

The closest yet.

“The girl had never been to the beach.”

“Neither had the boy,” Yoss added in a whisper, his lips moving against my hair.

“They decided to run away to the shore. Where they could dip their toes in the water and walk on the sand. Because everything was always better when they were together.”

“Did they live happily ever after? On the beach? Always together?” Yoss asked, his voice breaking.

I couldn’t look up at him because I knew what I’d see.

And I wasn’t prepared to see his doubt.

“Of course they did. Always together,” I murmured, shivering as the sun disappeared.

Yoss ran his thumb along the inside of my wrist. Slowly. Carefully. “We’ll walk on the beach, Imi, and we’ll dance on the sand. Because one day soon, I promise you that all this ugly will become something beautiful.” Did he believe that? How could he given where he spent his day? Where he sometimes spent his nights? How could he afford to dream the impossible?

But I wanted to dream with him.

I had to.

“I know, Yoss. One day soon,” I agreed.

We stayed like that for a long time, neither of us moving. I wasn’t sure if it was out of fear. Or out of contentment.

Whatever it was, it kept us still.

Lost in dreams neither of us really believed would ever come true.
